Myofascial Release (MFR) uses slow tissue stretches combined with different levels of pressure to release tissues that are chronically shortened and adhered. These tissues can often be the source of numerous dysfunctions and directly relate to posture and strength.
Geoff is available for 30, 60 and 90 minute massage sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Call, text, email or go online to make an appointment!

This week we will enjoy all sorts of delicious appetizers, entrees, sides, and desserts. Such a feast might leave your core feeling non-existent, but have no fear! This STOTT PILATES® exercise, Leg Pull Front, is simple to perform and has several modifications that will get your abdominals fired up again.
For each progression of Leg Pull Front, you must apply the principles of a good plank. Have your head, spine, and pelvis aligned in neutral. Keep your scapulae hugged on your back in neutral. Turn your elbow creases forward to avoid hyperextension, and maintain shoulders over wrists. Finally, distribute the weight equally between your arms and feet.
#1 is a simple hover of the knees, also known as a quadruped plank. You will feel this in your quadriceps a bit, but the main focus is the transversus abdominis as you hold your core tightly.
#2 is also a knee hover, but it is more challenging to your core because your knees are further behind your hips. With this version, avoid pushing the pelvis too far forward or back; it should remain in neutral as shown.
#3 presses into a plank. Think of pushing your heels against a wall as you straighten your knees, and you should feel your glutes immediately activate to extend the hip joints.
#4 holds the plank and adds a one leg lift. There should be no shifting in your spine or pelvis, and both hip bones should face the floor as the glute max lifts your leg. This will challenge your stabilizers, such as the obliques and multifidi, as they fight against rotation in your trunk.
#5 is the most difficult version. It works everything mentioned and further challenges your coordination and scapular stabilizers (especially the serratus anterior) as your weight shifts back and forth. This shift happens from the shoulder joint, as if you are trying to push and pull the floor underneath you.
You can try each progression individually, or you can perform them all in sequence. Challenge your family and friends to join you!
Are you looking to join our IH team? We are hiring! Applicants must have:
- 2+ years of MSK experience
- Training in Pilates based therapeutic exercise
