MEDAL MONDAY: Congratulations to on his first Ironman Pro Series race Mont Tremblant 70.3! Here’s his race recap: “What a day! 100% fun pushing myself at 70.3 Mont-Tremblant! Super rainy and the perfect temperature to push. I got some TV time going back and forth with Paula Findlay - I hung with her for about 10-15 miles mid-bike. She would pass me on the uphills and I’d fly by her on the downhills (it’s like I’m heavier than her…).

The swim was shortened to about 1200m. I hung on feet for the first minute, then lost them, then found ‘s feet and hung with him the whole swim. Not a stellar swim, but all good.

Bike was a blast! I hit over 50mph on a downhill with heavy rain hitting my face hard (I’d wasn’t wearing my visor because of fog). The bike worked great and I stayed in my numbers pushing hard on the uphills.

The run was hilly but a lot of fun running in the rain. It felt great not overheating at all. Under 90 minutes on a hilly course is good for me. I smiled a lot.

And- I wasn’t last place pro! Huge gratitude for all the other pros and other athletes, staff, and volunteers. Big thank you to Audrey and the family taking good care of me. It was fun to see Grace on course- I got really close to beating her - just a couple seconds short of it!
Loved the race- highly recommend it! ———————

MEDALS & METAS: Congratulations to Paul on crushing his second marathon! Here’s his race report:⁣

“I learned that it takes a village to get a marathon PR! Adding coach Lizzie to my team was a huge part of my success this race. The flu sidelined me from the Atlanta marathon but Coach Lizzie calmly nudged me toward the Combos marathon the following week. Perfect weather and a flat course led to 20 stress free miles followed by a gritty final 10k. Marathon #2 was a success!“⁣

Congratulations Paul! You ROC!⁣

Congratulations to Keri on completing using triathlon training. Here’s her training and race recap:⁣

“Starting training when you haven’t fully recovered from your last marathon is not recommended. I reached out to Lizzie and asked “Should I even try this??” She was confident that with lots of cross training we could make it work.

I previously ran 5-6 days/week max 60 miles/week. This cycle, I ran 3 days/week max 34 miles/week before taper. I cycled 2-3 times/week, swam and did lots of PT. A couple of injuries caused me to miss 2 long runs, but guided me through and October 8, I toed the line healthy, happy and pain free!⁣

I was ecstatic just to be there, but with my unconventional build I wasn’t sure of my current marathon pace. I decided to trust myself, do check-in with myself often and adjust as needed. ⁣

It was fun starting with my friend Miquel. With the huge crowds and amazing race excitement, it was calming having a familiar face, someone I’d ran countless miles with in training beside me.

We had a conservative start and I felt great through the first half starting to fatigue around mile 16. Mile 19, she forged ahead and I knew I couldn’t keep up. As I watched the gap grow, I knew I would need to use all the mental tools I’d practiced to pull me through the final 10k. ⁣

I thought about my family, soaked in the encouragement from the crowd, focused on my form, repeated mantras until finally, there I was, going up the 1 real hill on the course. The final 400m and I knew I was going to be ok.

As I quickened my pace down the finish chute, I smiled at the camera and focused on the finish line, nearly being taken out by a guy making a beeline for his photo op! I blocked the force and crossed the finish in 3:50:16. Not a PR, but a time I am very happy with given where I began. I got there injury free and sore 😝.

Big thanks to Coach Lizzie!! I don’t have plans to run another marathon any time soon, but if I do I would highly consider the approach to again!”

MEDALS & METAS: Congratulations to Chris on completing his second triathlon Lake Lanier sprint. Here’s his race recap:⁣

“𝐀𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐫𝐢 𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞, 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐞, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐞 𝐈 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 “𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐩”. ⁣

I was bruised, battered, and beaten from a day-long CrossFit competition that I competed in the day prior (bad planning on my part). I certainly did not have the energy or motivation to wake up that Sunday and drag myself to a cold and early race start. 𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡. ⁣

I didn’t compete to the best of my ability, but learning acceptance and tolerance is another aspect of this sport that I’m embracing. 𝐈𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜. 𝐓𝐨 𝐦𝐞, 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐣𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲, 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐲𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐝-𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬.⁣

The Lake Lanier Tri race did all of these things for me. I’m glad I did. Now onto the next fun adventure!⁣

MEDALS & METAS: Congratulations to Barb on completing her first sprint distance tri Lake Lanier a few weeks ago!⁣ Here’s her race recap:

“This was my 2nd tri, but 1st sprint distance (1st tri was a super sprint distance). I was 60 years old for my first attempt and now 61 for this one. I had a lot of fun doing this Tri and I’m glad I did it since it was the last year for it. ⁣

🏊‍♀️ The swim was good - though I swear I tasted gas and oil from one small area (boat dock!). Even though water temp was good it was wet suit legal and I’m glad I did wear it because the ambient air was chilly!! ⁣

🚴🏽‍♀️ The bike was so much fun but the description of “one small hill the rest flat” was a lie 🤣🤣. It would’ve been better described as some rolling hills instead of flat. But still a great ride. ⁣

🏃‍♀️ The run was pretty flat - a really nice out and back. All the volunteers were super friendly and helpful and the other athletes were fun and encouraging. ⁣

💡 Did I hit all my goals - nope! I was unable to sleep the night before (total of 45 mins of sleep) - 10 out of 10 do not recommend this ha! But I hit the most important one, and that was to have FUN and that I did. ⁣

I know I couldn’t have done any of it without the great training plans Coach puts together. I love how she is always pushing me. ⁣

This race was fun - they put on a great race!

MEDALS & METAS: Congratulations to Coach for breaking the tape .triathlon.series Tri Here’s her post-race recap:⁣

“I’m not big on posting on social media, and especially not pics like this one… but I do want to take the opportunity to use the attention this photo is receiving to highlight what I LOVE about this sport: UNITY. It brings people together under one passion, despite coming from different places, cultures & walks of life.⁣

Competition is silly; swimming, biking & running in wet spandex is silly, but the platform it creates to meet and grow with others is something we need more of in this world. In the end, in sport and in life, we’re all just a bunch of individuals running around overcoming little challenges, while always moving towards the finish line, but hopefully cheering each other on in the process.⁣

THANK YOU .triathlon.series for keeping this exact energy in triathlon. The whole weekend provided the opportunity to meet other athletes & Ben (aka the “Super Frenchman”), Stéphanie & made each athlete feel truly welcomed… and made triathlon fun again. ⁣

THANK YOU for your support: my bike & I definitely wouldn’t have made it to this race without you.⁣

THANK YOU to my awesome community of athletes who support their crazy coach’s adventures & don’t mind a bit of time zone difference on occasion. ⁣

THANK YOU for getting my body back to some kind of shape from no kind of shape & for all the great life advice. ⁣

THANK YOU for your constant inspiration to pursue excellence amongst a community of incredible people.⁣

THANK YOU for the race recommendation & for making me part of your family in Casablanca. Your dedication to the sport while working & parenting is truly inspiring! ⁣

THANK YOU team for adopting me into your group this weekend and all the positive energy. ⁣

And THANK YOU to everyone who has supported me in one of the more difficult years of my life, when I almost gave up on triathlon. BIG LOVE to you all!

Gracias!
