Ted Turner passed away yesterday, and I couldn’t let that moment go by without sharing the impact he had in my life. Even if I only saw him a couple of times at work.
In 2000, a 23-year-old girl from Brazil packed her bags and moved to Atlanta for a dream job at Cartoon Network, at the Turner Headquarters.
That one opportunity changed everything. It gave me 15 years of the most incredible creative experiences. The world of animation, traveling to word to create content, working on the Oscars, the Golden Globes, friendships, growth, and a career have me built all the knowledge and experience I pour into my business today.
None of that happens without Ted Turner building something only he believed in.
And here’s the butterfly effect — without Turner, there’s no Your Social Team. Without Your Social Team, there’s no The Reelies. Without The Reelies, there’s no this moment, right here, with my family by my side.
So thank you, Ted. For building something that rippled far beyond what anyone could have imagined. Rest in peace.
… and for the rest of us, remember that what we build can have an amazing impact in the life of others, even if is a small scale. ❤️

this morning announced that instagram will now limit the reach of unoriginal content across feed posts and carousels, not just reels. if the majority of what you post is unoriginal, your account won’t be recommended to people who don’t already follow you.
this afternoon i was invited to join a 1-hour long webinar hosted by instagram and meta to walk us through exactly what this means: what counts as original content, how to avoid being flagged and what to do if your account is affected.
here’s everything you need to know:
what changed:
instagram has been limiting the reach of unoriginal reels for a while. now they’re doing the same for feed posts and carousels too. this rolls out over the next month.
what “unoriginal” means:
instagram is NOT asking you to take the photo or make graphics from scratch.
they’re asking if you added meaningful value. re-uploading someone else’s content without editing it, sharing a meme with no original text or graphics overlay, or posting a carousel of other people’s posts with nothing added in the caption. these are the things that will get flagged. ph, and just giving credit in the caption is not enough.
what about templates?
instagram confirmed that putting your own words into a template so it sounds like you makes it original. using a trending format with your own take is original. posting a template with zero customization, not even your own text? that’s the problem. basically you just need to make it yours.
how to check if you’re affected:
go to your profile → settings → account status. you’ll be able to see if your reach to non-followers has been limited. if it has, you can remove the flagged content and the restriction should lift. you can also request a review if you think instagram got it wrong. this only affects your reach to new people. your existing followers still see everything.
