Truly getting significant and impactful rains that is so nice. The rainbows at sunset are beautiful and memorable for sure. Lots of success this week with first time ever fly fishers. Some hard lessons made on some big ass browns.

She’s back and looking great. We’ve had some funky water releases this week that made us work harder to find them. Shorter days are evident but those cooler nights and mornings have been sweet. Terrestrial dries have been really entertaining. Some pretty rad days watching dudes put a serious bend in it. We had a few reel screamers too. The mother Moose had one baby with her but we couldn’t get the camera going quick enough.

Fall seems to be creeping in with some moisture mixed in with some hot afternoons. The bite has been wildly variable this week but when it’s on, it’s been spectacular. It’s heart breaking to witness some 21ā€+ get snapped off. You can tell them ahead of time until you are blue in the face but sometimes it takes making a mistake for it to register. Pretty cool experience having clients fly into fish this week.

Lots of epic dry fly action this week! Terrestrials combined with some good anglers have made for some killer floats.

It’s always cool when a couple of Georgia boys show up to fish the Green. JD and Ed got after it. We hung a few good ones and lost a giant rainbow but that’s how it goes. Tonya, first time fishing and fly fishing put on a clinic.

Faces of summer!

We hooked some good ones this week. The twice daily releases are still making the conditions tough with fewer hatches present. We’ve really enjoyed the wildlife sightings. We have seen a lot of deer, antelope, and elk. I’m getting good at catching and releasing hummingbirds that sneak into the garage. Check out the buck under the tree. That’s a huge rack. Got to fish for trophies on a high mountain lake this evening. There’s some big boys there that broke me off twice. I can’t wait to go back. šŸ˜‰

The high water flows are still impacting our hatch cycle. Caddis still seem to be on the menu however. Smallies on the lake are dialed on cicadas. The lake action is really consistent. We were treated to a beautiful heard of antelope last evening along with some beautiful views from the river overlook.
