🐴 It’s true. I couldn’t believe it. I was researching Clydesdale facts for the last page of ”Rosie’s Wild Ride” when I read this. The Clydesdale population has been declining for nearly 80 years. In the early 1900s, there were over 140,000 Clydesdales in the United States, but today there are fewer than 1,000. Globally, there are an estimated 5,000 ClydesdalesTheir robust build and unwavering strength made them an indispensable asset during times of agricultural revolution. By 1975, Clydesdales faced a critical threat of extinction due to the decline in their demand for farm work and transportation. The rise of machinery and automobiles rendered them obsolete, risking their existence.The breed experienced a a slight increase in numbers in the 1990s, primarily due to its adaptation into various roles such as show horses, companions, and even therapy animals.
