What a week it has been for Team Purnell.

Last Sunday, we played a doubleheader scrimmage against Elite LaBonte-Maher. We’re grateful to their coaches and players for making it happen. Facing a disciplined, talented team gave our girls valuable experience and helped prepare us for our trip to Woburn and our first summer tournament together as a team.

Afterward, we practiced at Purnell Wrigley Field, a place that holds special meaning for me. Some of my best childhood memories were made there, along with lessons that extended far beyond the game. Bringing this group of girls there was a full circle moment I won’t forget and a reminder of what youth sports are really about, relationships, memories and passing something meaningful forward.

A few days later, we traveled to Woburn, Massachusetts. While Saturday’s games were washed out, the weekend quickly turned into an important team building experience. Between team meals, hotel time, pool time and a few trips out together, the girls built even stronger connections off the field.

By Sunday, that chemistry showed.

We opened against a talented Rockets Select team, battled to a 7–6 win over Redmen, and finished against a strong Tanner Pride squad. The competition was high level from start to finish, exactly the kind of environment that helps young players develop.

More than anything, the weekend came down to effort. The girls competed, adjusted, supported each other, and never backed down from a challenge. They stayed engaged from the first pitch to the last out and continued to lift each other up throughout the day.

A special thank you to Scott Hamilton and everyone involved in running the tournament. Despite weather challenges and difficult decisions, they created a great experience for all the teams involved.

We also appreciate every coach, player, parent, volunteer and fan we crossed paths with. The competition was strong, but the sportsmanship and respect throughout the weekend stood out just as much.

As we move forward, we’re reminded that every practice, every inning, and every challenge is part of the process. The results fade, but the relationships, lessons and memories last.

We are incredibly proud of this group and excited for what’s ahead.

What a weekend for our girls! Mainiacs Fisher

Despite starting the day in challenging rainy conditions, the team came out ready to compete. In our opening game against Team Maine, the girls battled through the weather and put together several quality at-bats in an 8-4 loss. While the result wasn't what we wanted, the effort and determination they showed set the tone for the rest of the day.

The girls carried that energy into Game 2, where the offense came alive in a big way, earning an impressive 13-4 victory and showcasing some of the best team hitting we've seen all season.

The third game against Khaos was another hard-fought battle. Our girls continued to compete from the first pitch to the last but ultimately came up short in a 6-3 game. Team Maine claimed the first game, we responded with a strong win in the second, and Khaos took the third matchup.

One of the biggest highlights of the weekend was the confidence and aggressiveness at the plate. The girls attacked pitches, put the ball in play, and consistently pressured opposing defenses. Their approach at the plate continues to improve, and it was exciting to see so many quality swings throughout the tournament.

In bracket play, we faced Elite and fell 8-2, but the score doesn't tell the full story. The girls continued to compete, support one another, and represent our team with tremendous effort and determination.

The wins and losses are part of the game, but the growth, teamwork, and confidence we saw this weekend are what matter most. Keep working, keep believing, and keep swinging those bats. The progress is showing, and we're excited to see what comes next!

Proud of every one of these girls. 💙🥎

If parents have any other photos they would like to share we would always love to see them.

Two teams. One family. Built by a community.

These aren’t just team photos… they’re the banners we’ll carry into every tournament this season—representing the work, the grind, and everyone who helped make it happen.

To our players — thank you for your effort, energy, and commitment. You make this all worth it.

To our parents and players’ families — thank you for the rides, the time, the sacrifices, and the constant support. You’re the backbone of this team.

To our coaches — thank you for your time, dedication, and commitment to this program and these players. The impact you have goes far beyond the field, and it’s greatly appreciated.

To the CAYSA board — thank you for trusting in me and allowing me to be part of something truly special. Your support and belief in this program means more than words can express.

A huge shoutout to Chris Fisher and Sarah McNally for their photography — your generosity and support will capture memories that last a lifetime.

To all of our vendors and supporters — from uniforms, bags, helmets, embroidery to photography and everything in between… thank you for bringing this vision to life and helping these girls look and feel like a team.

And to our sponsors — this one’s for you. Your support goes far beyond the banner. We’re proud to represent you everywhere we go.

We don’t just show up… we show up together.

Let’s go. 🥎🔥

From the first practices… to right now.

Crazy how fast this all came together.

The late workouts.
The cold nights.
The lessons.
The laughs.
The growth.
The team bonding.
The memories already being made.

And now… tournament season begins THIS MONTH!

Both Mainiacs teams are ready to hit the field and compete. 💙

This. 💯

People think we’re crazy for giving up entire weekends to sit at a dusty softball field…
long days in the heat, early mornings, late nights, living out of folding chairs and coolers.
But what they don’t understand is this—
we’re not just watching games.
We’re watching our favorite person chase something they love with everything they have. ❤
We get a front row seat to the effort, the growth, the failures, and the moments they’ll never forget.
That’s not time wasted…
that’s time we’ll always be grateful for. 🥎
