Can't beat the view! Wouldn't you rather be fishing?
Awesome crew!
With family visiting from Washington we decided a halibut charter would be a perfect way to show them all Alaska has to offer. Captain Dave and his deckhand Annalisa were knowledgeable about the boat, gear, and really made the trip effortless! The Hot Rod was set up perfectly for the four of us and Annalisa to move around on deck. I highly recommend Big Jim Charters to my friends and future visitors.
Just got back from Juneau, and had an awesome fishing trip with Captain David and Ashley. They worked hard to put us on the fish, and made sure we had a great time. I can highly recommend both David and Ashley if you are looking for a great trip.

Fish for Salmon or Halibut in beautiful Juneau, Alaska, on “ HOT ROD “ a 34 foot Express with 1 In business providing fishing charters and Whale Watching Trips for over ten years.

Come fish for Kings, Coho’s, Chum, Pinks and Halibut with us and enjoy the scenery of Southeast Alaska from our 34 foot Luhrs Express. Our boat cruses at 25 mph, has seating for 6, and a private flush type head. We use and upgrade our top of line Shimano gear annually. We have gear for 6 anglers, both Halibut and Salmon. We use a combination of artificial lures and herring for bait. We slow troll with Trolling Valves for Salmon and we drift or anchor up for Halibut.

We just learned that Canada is extending its restriction of allowing cruise ships to make port in Canadian waters until 2/10/2022 which will crush our Sportfishing and sightseeing business in the Juneau and the state of Alaska as 90% of our business is from cruise ship passengers visiting Juneau. I still plan to operate our charter business this season with one boat and we are taking reservations for our season May through September 2021. It’s a good time to come Sportfishing in Juneau as some of our restrictions for Halibut and Salmon have been changed and it’s not crowded on the water. Give us a call on our toll free number, 866-big-Jims(244-5467) or fill out our contact form on our website www.bigjims charters.com.

Mid July to mid August is the Top of the Season and the reservation are coming in quickly. Top Halibut action as the Silvers start to show. Alaska Fish and Game have increased the slot 45 to 80 so now you can go home with some nice Halibut in the near 50 pound range and fill up your freezer. All the cruise ship traffic that comes to Juneau has been cancelled so just locals are fishing, no crowds. If your traveling to Alaska get your Negative Corvus-19 rest done before you leave, 72 hours maximum, and you will be fishing that afternoon. Our prices have not increased so come and take advantage of great prices. Let’s bend some rods.
