The way we define sport is too restrictive. Specializing in a single sport too early can do more harm than good, especially while children are still developing the fundamental skills that come from participating in many forms of play.

We are grateful to the Harbaugh Coaching Academy for sharing this mission and for helping us elevate the people who have such a lasting impact on athletes, families, and communities.
When we invest in coaches, we invest in everyone they lead. When coaches rise, athletes thrive.
This past weekend, three generations of Harbaughs converged on Jackson, WY for the Excellence in Sport Leadership conference hosted by SPKN. Says founder Meg Wilson:
"What stood out most was not just their extraordinary success, but the way they spoke about coaching as a responsibility passed from one generation to the next. Legacy is not only built through wins, championships, or years in the profession. It is built through the people we shape, the lessons we carry forward, and the willingness to keep learning as athletes, families, and communities change. These leaders reminded us that great coaches do more than teach a sport. They build confidence. They create belonging. They model resilience. They help young people become who they are meant to be. When we invest in coaches, we invest in athletes, families, and communities. And when coaches rise, athletes thrive."
