DALLAS CRUSH win the 2024 Championship
Aug 26, 2024 - Press Release

The 2024 Season has come to an end in spectacular fashion! Six hours of pickleball fun began at 11am Saturday inside the cool confines of Pikla Pickleball facility in Mansfield Texas. Our first semifinal featured the regular season points leader and last year runner up Westside Drillers taking on the league road warriors...the Hill Country Bandits. Both squads came out wearing new "kits" for the match. Bandit Captain Craig Bobo set a lineup that swept the first round 6-0. Regretfully, league founder and Drillers Captain Lew Lewis was unable to participate. However the Drillers bounced back taking 4 of the 6 second round matches. When Bobo and fellow NPL Houston Hammers Dino Patane won their first game 15-12, the bandits secured their spot in the Finale.

Our second semifinal had our top two scoring average leagers facing off against each other. Todd Jones' Dallas Crush squad jumped out to a 5-1 lead after round one. The Gladiators from Collin County were led by John Hurlbert. His second round teams were able to spit two matches but were dormie at 9-3 heading into the final frame. The Rich Lopez and Ben Paquette win secured the ticket to the finals for the Crush.

*The Bronze Medal match between the Gladiators and Drillers was a nip and tuck affair. All 18 games were required to be played. But in the end, the Drillers won their last two games to clinch the victory.

*The GOLD MEDAL FINAL began with an epic 3-3 split after the first round. Captain Jones made a few roster alignment changes which led to a 6-0 sweep in the second round. And once Michael McMahon and newcomer Blake Arrand won their first game, the CRUSH could hoist their trophy!

Our 2024 Champion Dallas Crush Roster: Todd Jones , Michael McMahon , Made Jaya , Al Arco, Ben Paquette , Rich Lopez "Thunder" Lopez, Blake Arrand also featured during the regular season: Mark Molthan, Dave Fleming , David White, and Tien Nguyen.

Our 2024 Runner-up Hill Country Bandits Roster: Craig Bobo, David Komie , Bernard LeBlanc , Chip Morgan , Stan Briggs , Kerry Minzenmayer, Mark Scholes , and Dino Patane.
Bandits also featured during the regular season: Tim Klitch , Chip James , Bill Parodi Jr , John Swords , Steven McCrane , Paul Underwood , Ross Smith , Spike Borawski , James Aguirre , & Simon Toth.

2 Firsts for me that are pretty cool for us 50+ Dream chasers 😉
1. To be listed in Forbes and 2. Making my first check from NPL.

*It's not the dollar amounts that are significant at this point. It's following a passion and enjoying teaching others how to follow theirs as well at any age.

*Don't ever quit! You'll get knocked down a lot... by people, by events, by storms, and in your daily pursuits.

Remember 5 things... 1. It's not how many times you get knocked down, but how many times you get back up. 2. Tough times never last, but tough people do. 3. Stay focused on the process. My friend Dayne Gingrich says it's not the win you should be focused on, but the experience and improvement. 4. Surround yourself with good mentors who truly care and lift you up. 5. Pay the Price, because it's Non-negotiable 🎯

A shout out to my friends Rick Witsken Beth Herr Bellamy Michael Chen and the whole National Pickleball League - nplpickleball.com Team and to the Houston Hammers for giving me and the hundreds of players the opportunity to compete again at a pro level. The ripple effect has just started as this league will expand to more cities next year. Keep making a difference NPL 👍👏

Heights Athletic Club
Hello October! -And hello to you, our Heights Family...

Not long ago I jokingly marked myself safe from the Texas heat in a post. It was a long hot Summer. Thankfully we have made it through another Texas Summer and are enjoying some cooler temperatures as I type this message. As we move into Fall, I want to thank our members and clients for being a part of our community and family. The changing of the seasons means that we won't see some of you until next May for Pool Season again, but we hope that changes and we see you more often.

Our first Summer was a struggle in so many ways. Software changes, facility repairs, staffing changes just to name a few. Thank you for your patience and your support. Years 1 and 2 are the toughest years for a new business. As some of you have noticed, we are in the midst of more changes. We have partnered with Ninja Physio who is moving in to my old office and the old membership office. Ninja Physio will be offering classes and evaluations to our members and clients on how to overcome and become pain free. They will also run their private practice through their office space in our club as well similar to our top-notch massage therapist Sarah. Jebelyn and I are still officing on the property, but we are now across the parking lot. We are renovating the old Folkerson building and that will become our new admin and membership offices. We will also be adding some additional studio space over in the new building to house some of our classes that need more space, and more specifically more quiet space.

Here are some important updates and upcoming activities for you to take note of.

We are currently in the search process for a new Head Tennis Professional. Our Junior and Adult Tennis Programs are an important part of this club and we look forward to growing Tennis at Heights again. It's important that we are patient and make the right decision for you and the community. We will update you on this process and our new programming which will be coming soon!
We are working on a new website that will be more informative and more functional for our Members, Clients, and Partners. We are working with the developer on the final pieces of this new site and will let you know when it goes live.
To keep up with all of these updates and activities on weekly basis, please like and share us on Facebook and Instagram, plus see announcements on our Team Reach Groups as well.
What's the difference between Court Reserve and Team Reach? Court Reserve is how we run our business, while Team Reach is a Social App with instant messaging, sharing pictures, activities, and private messaging features to allow you to meet and interact with new friends in the Heights Family.
Register now for our Pickleball Team Tournament October 13-15. We have all levels from Novice to Advanced. There are several ways to enter. A. Pull a group of 4 friends together and compete, or B. Register with you and your significant other and allow us to pair you up with 2 others, or C. Register Individually and we can place you with 3 other players who want to play. It's going to be a FUN event. Don't Miss Out! Email our Head Pickleball Pro Chance Ponsford if you have an interest and/or have any questions at [email protected]
Pickleball Leagues are coming to Heights! See the flyer, grab a partner, and let's go! Our first season is forming now. It's a 6 week season with playoffs. If you can't make all the weeks, there are subs plus a make-up week and playoffs... Did someone say Playoffs?!
FITNESS at Heights... Join one of Stephanie, Kylie, or Jebelyn's Fitness, Spin, TRX, PT, or Yoga classes. They are growing! -And did you know that Kylie offers Personal Training. Call us or stop by for more details!
We have the best Massage Therapist on the planet! If you haven't had a session with Sarah, then put her to the test. There is a reason people drive 90 minutes just to get in with her. Book a Session with Sarah TODAY!
If you want to try something new, but don't know how to get involved, just ask... we provide all of the tools you need. All we need is YOU!
We hope your families are doing well and we wish you a beautiful Fall. Get out and enjoy it!

And as always, thank you for being a Member!

Best Craig
