Ideal Skateparks

Ideal Skateparks was started in fall 2006 by Seth Johnson and Cary Jackson. This page exists to rem Over the next 4 years, we designed 9 skateparks and built 11.

In summer 2010, in the middle of building phase 2 of the San Marcos skatepark, the company fell apart and Seth pulled the plug and disappeared. This page exists to remember something good we once had. Hope you enjoy the parks we made; now go build something of your own!

Hendersonville 04/07/2010

15,000 sq ft street plaza and Kidney pool designed by Grindline, built in 2009 by Ideal Skateparks in conjunction with Who Skates. Opened April 2009. No fence! Lights til 10 pm. This was a fun project, even though we got snowed on...

Patterson Park (Austin) 04/07/2010

24' wide concrete miniramp designed by Cary Jackson and built with donated funds and volunteer labor by Ideal Skateparks in summer 2008, and given as a gift to the city of Austin.
UPDATE- The city is installing lights at the ramp, as of April 2010!

Benbrook Ranch (Leander) 04/07/2010

6000 sq ft street course and minibowl designed by Cary Jackson and built by Ideal Skateparks in 2009. Leander had only $95,000 to work with, and didn't think they could afford concrete; we worked with the city to create a fun park for a tight budget.

Navasota 04/07/2010

12,000 sq ft street plaza with a miniramp, designed by Cary Jackson and Dave Wattigny. The city only had $45,000 and two old tennis courts next to each other. We worked with the Parks Department and the local skateboarders to create a fun design that would maximize their budget. Opened April 3, 2010. Free, no helmet rules, and there are lights!

San Marcos 04/07/2010

Phase 2 of the San Marcos Skatepark, designed by Cary Jackson. 7000 sq ft flow bowl with snakerun, spine, 8' tall bank, banked channel, rollover hip, and an 8' deep kidney pool.

Clay Madsen Skatepark (Round Rock) 07/21/2009

Designed by Grindline, built by Ideal Skateparks, summer 2007. 8500 sq ft street course, with 3 levels. Banks, quarterpipes, 8 flat ledges, 2 hubba ledges, 2 banked hubbas, 2 handrails, 2 flatbars, a grass gap, step-up gap, manual pad, pier 7 ledge, and shallow-end pool pocket. Lights til 11 pm.

Westside Skatepark (El Paso) 07/21/2009

10,000 sq ft skatepark, designed for the city of El Paso by Ideal Skateparks, summer 2008. 2500 sq ft bowl, 6' - 8' deep, 7500 sq ft street area with banks, hips, quarterpipes, 3 flat ledges, 5 hubba ledges, stairs, a handrail and a step-up gap.

Youth Park ( Lafayette) 07/21/2009

2500 sq ft bowl, designed by Cary Jackson and built by Ideal Skateparks, January 2009. 6' - 7.5' deep, with a hip, pocket extension, and loveseat/pumpbump/twinkie.

Nienhuis Skatepark (Broken Arrow) 07/21/2009

12,000 sq ft skatepark built by Ideal, spring/summer 2007. 10,000 sq ft street area, 2500 sq ft bowl, 6' deep.

4500 sq ft street plaza, original design by SITE with revisions by Ideal, built by Ideal Skateparks, fall 2008. 3 stair sets, 2 handrails, 2 hubba ledges, 2 drop ledges, step-up gap, 2 hips, bank, quarterpipe, curved ledge, 2 long flat ledges.

Nantucket Skatepark 07/21/2009

Design by Grindline, built by Ideal Skateparks in conjunction with Who Skates, fall 2008. 5000 sq ft bowl, 4'-10' deep, with extensions, escalators, hips and 2 waterfalls.
