12U Smolen Softball

Adelaide’s American Freedom CTX 12U fastpitch fall season came to an end in early December but she was asked by the 14U Wolfpack CTX team to play with them in a tournament in Gatesville. She’s played up in age for a while & knows many of the older girls so she was definitely willing & not afraid. Her older former teammates always treat her well & she loves them, so it’s easy to say yes. The gig was only for one day because Ads had her 12th bday slumber party planned back at home that night. The girls played great & went 2-2 in 4 back-to-back games on Saturday. Ads got to pitch, & play SS, 2nd, & LF. At pitcher she started 2 games, pitched 2.1 innings, struck out 3, walked 2, threw 59% strikes, got one win, & fielded her position perfectly. She had to be relieved both games, but one was a save situation.

The players on the team treated Ads very well, speaking volumes for their character. They even gathered around & sang happy birthday to her, so obviously it was a great experience! She also really enjoyed seeing Avery hit an over-the-fence homerun!!! Thank you Coach Joe, Merranda, Myra, Jackie, & the rest of the team!! We’re looking forward to seeing y’all again.

Anyone searching for a competitive 14U fastpitch team with a great group of girls & a quality coach in the central Texas area of Belton, Temple, Harker Heights, Copperas Cove, Salado, & nearby, I absolutely recommend Wolfpack CTX. I’ve known Coach Joe & Merranda for a while now & have coached together with them. They’re good people, & Adelaide & I love their daughter, Myra, who is a great player. Check them out.

Birthday girl with a new look as beautiful as ever! Happy birthday Adelaide!!

Last weekend was big for Adelaide’s American Freedom CTX fastpitch team playing in the NCS 3rd Annual Santa’s Little Helpers Tournament. They went undefeated in pool play to seed #2 in the top diamond bracket, then ended up going undefeated (6-0) overall & won the championship game to place #1 out of 12 teams!

Notably, Adelaide pitched her first complete game no-hitter shutout for a 11-0 win with 2 strike outs & one walk, throwing 69% strikes & facing the minimum number of batters, with outstanding defense backing her up. Her & her teammates also worked together to make a number of milestone plays including a perfectly executed su***de squeeze & a triple play. I’m proud of these girls because they finally found a way to utilize their time together during long breaks between games so they return ready to play hard & win!!
