Claunch Academy will be opening at the previous Vandry BJJ location on June 2nd! I had a chance to meet with Prof. Claunch and I think his community is a great fit for any of the Vandry guys looking to continue their BJJ journey. I encourage you to check them out, and let them know you were a Vandry student!

While the legacy of Professor Vandry will live on in his students, it is time to say goodbye to the school. For our students it was more than just a place to train, it was a second home, a sanctuary, and a place to form bonds that will last a lifetime. Everyone who trained with William will carry on the knowledge and life lessons he imparted, but most of all, they will carry on the strong sense of community that was the heart of our school. Thank you to everyone who made the school the special place it was over the years.

Professor Brad Scott, 3rd degree Black Belt under Carlos Machado, will be paying a visit to Austin on April 29th. He has offered his time in support of the Vandry BJJ community in our time of loss. Vandry and Machado students, past and present, are welcome to join us for this special session!

Congratulations are in order to Clint on his second stripe! Right now we have been having “closed” mat sessions on Wednesday for our students while we try to figure out a path forward for the school.

As William Vandry’s wife, I had the bittersweet honor of receiving his coral belt and the first stripe on my black belt from Master Carlos Machado this weekend. William was a master of his craft in jiu jitsu, especially with Leglocks. His legend lives on in his many students over the years who owe the foundation of their game to him, and all us who have the secret “silver bullet” techniques he taught.
I am especially grateful to our students who came with me to Dallas, to support me during this time.

Evidence of the Crucifixion and Resurrection! 04/05/2026

William Vandry and I put this together last year for Easter. To keep honoring his legacy and the things that were important to him, I am posting it again.

His birthday is today, and he always talked about how his birthday was the most important day of the year, because April 5th was also the day that Christ was risen.

We had a beautiful celebration of life yesterday, with so many people horning him and the impact he made on their lives. A crazy part of my brain almost expected him to be resurrected today, even though I know that miracle was reserved for Jesus.

I wish everyone a blessed Easter.

Please consider donating to his wife Chandra, as she navigates this difficult transition without her husband by her side.

If William was a part of your Jiu-Jitsu journey or life, this is a chance to give back.

Today was supposed to be a seminar day, we decided to get together on the mats in honor of William. We hugged, talked, and shared stories. The community he created is something I cherish. Thank you everyone that came out, a celebration of life ceremony is planned for April 4th, details coming soon.
