The Odd Couple
THE ODD COUPLE starring Sammo Hung and Lau Kar Wing. No, not the TV show with Tony Randall and Jack Klugman, nor the American movie with Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau.
This Kung-Fu classic has some amazing choreography in it, totally master class level! It's pretty cool, Sammo Hung and Lau Kar Wing play these rivaling masters, and as they get older, they want their students to carry on their rivalries. Sammo's student is played by Lau, and Lau's student is played by Sammo!
Old Sammo is a master of spear, and old Lau is a master of Broadsword. So young Sammo learns Broadsword, and young Lau learns Spear!
The opening duel between them is epic, and the rest of the fights in the film are awesome, too. But check out this opening fight scene:

Lethal Weapon 4
LETHAL WEAPON 4 starring Jet Li! That's right, I said it!
Ok, fine! Starring Danny Glover, Chris Rock, Joe Pesci, Rene Russo, and some other dude who was in Passion of the Christ and Braveheart.
But this was the first time American audiences got to see Jet Li on the big screen! I was so excited when it came out, I had to see it twice!
Typical Lethal Weapon stuff, Danny Glover I’m sure will tell us that he’s getting too old for this.
Here's I think the first time you see Jet Li in action in the film:
https://youtu.be/Whu8wkD7MtI
That look on his face at 1:45 is like him saying, "Your fight choreography is really some of the worst I've ever seen!"

Secret Rivals
SECRET RIVALS starring John Liu and Hwang Jang Lee
This film has pretty much nothing to do with Secret Rivals 2. I actually liked 2 better, but still, this first one was pretty awesome! Wong Tao is the "Southern Fighter" who does some Hung Ga Kuen. He also wields a really interesting looking pair of nunchucks!
This film was shot in Korea and was probably the first Hong Kong-Korea collaborative film production.
Lots of high intensity kicking action, as the two main stars (Liu and Lee) are both Taekwondo guys. And when you've got Ng See Yuen choreographing it (he choreographed Drunken Master and No Retreat No Surrender), it's gonna be fast paced, furious, and creative!
This was made in 1976, so Bruce Lee's Enter the Dragon was still fresh in people's minds, so there's sort of a tournament part of the film, where there's a random Russian fighter, LOL!
Legends like Yuen Biao and Yuen Wah are in this for a brief moment. You can't really see them well, until in one fight scene, you see a couple of guys doing INSANE flips, and then you're like, "Ah, that's them!"
SYNOPSIS: (Do you really need it? Here's what the internet says) Two rivals (Don Wong, John Liu) join forces against a common foe.
Pretty much. There's a female love interest thing, almost a triangle situation, and a kid in there, too. So, yeah. There's also Hwang Jang Lee's unexplained motive for being evil, other than, he's just a greedy, evil, tough guy. Fair enough - plenty of those around!

Kung-Fu Commandos
INCREDIBLE KUNG-FU MISSION aka KUNG-FU COMMANDOS starring John Liu
I'm turning into a huge Joh Liu fan! The other night, we livestreamed Secret Rivals, and he was awesome in it! So this one, INCREDIBLE KUNG-FU MISSION might need to be our next movie night showing, maybe!
The choreography is really cool - it's not undercranked much, so they're moving at a pace that is normal human speed. As a martial artist, I like this speed, because it gives me time to process the technicals of the choreography.
There's a fight scene where a dude fights 5 guys with spears with a ceramic vase, and wins, LOL!!
There's a blonde-haired with bangs mega-villain who's got a blue outfit and red cape, looking kind of like an elven superman!
INTERNET SYNOPSIS:
When a comrade is captured by a hostile warlord, five martial arts masters confront the villain's foot soldiers, valiantly battling through their resistance until they come face to face with the warlord himself.
Warlord - that's a cool word. Anyways, this film is directed by Chang Hsin Yi. He's not super well known, not like a Yuen Woo Ping, Jackie Chan, Chang Cheh, or Lau Kar Leung - he's not really at their status.
But he did do a lot of screenplays for the old films that came here and ended up in the $5.00 DVD bins...like Snake and Crane Arts of Shaolin, Fist of Fury II, Exit Dragon Enter the Tiger, The Tattoo Connection, etc.
Check out this trailer, it claims that this film is "attractive" and has an "intricate story", LOL!! Word. I'm down!
