An event this big takes LOTS of volunteers, and how cool is it that we get a top-level Disc Golf Pro Tour event right here in Austin! Please help a little if you can.
Join over 100 of your fellow disc golfers who are staffing and volunteering May 7-10 at the Barbasol Open at Austin! Besides having a front row seat to the action you will get some swag, free parking and admission and you could win a MachXPro basket!

The Open at Austin, a DGPT event, is coming up fast! Waterloo DGC is looking for some more volunteers to help with spotting on some holes as part of the Waterloo Crew.
The tournament is Thu. May 7 – Sun. May 10, and will be held at Sprinkle Valley and Harvey Pennick Golf Campus.
Thu & Fri are at Sprinkle Valley
Sat & Sun are at Harvey Pennick
You can help for part of a day, a full day, several days, or all of it; whatever fits your schedule best.
If you can help this year, click this DGPT volunteer link to sign up: https://discgolfprotour.volunteerlocal.com/volunteer/
* You’ll put in your first name & email; then you’ll give them some more info and you’ll need to select “The Open at Austin”.
* That should take you to a screen where you can select which days and which shifts you want to work (they have both morning and afternoon shifts; if you can help all day just select both).
* Select the “spotter” shifts, that is what we’ll be doing.
* There will also be a field to select which club you are with, Waterloo is one of those choices – you’ll need to select it to be assigned to our crew; otherwise you’ll be put somewhere else.
If you’d like to help out in some way other than spotting as part of our crew, you can select some of the other volunteer options; they certainly need lots of help in various areas.
Finally, if you do sign up to volunteer on our crew, please let us know so we can keep a tally of how many we have so far. Just reply here or email/call the club at: [email protected] , 512-516-3723.
Thanks,
Waterloo DGC

Does It's My Park Day (IMPD) make a difference at Austin's parks? It sure does!!! Check out these figures from Austin Parks Foundation for this Spring's IMPD:
• Engaged 4,522 volunteers across 108 Park Projects addressing maintenance needs and activating green spaces throughout our city including: tree care, ecological restoration, invasive species management, gardening and horticulture, nature walks, juggling, picnics, and more!
• Distributed 1027 cubic yards (about 207,427 gallons) of mulch and raw materials into our parks and trails.
• Diverted more than 16,150 lbs of litter away from our waterways and green spaces.
• Contributed an estimated $455,682 in labor value to our city.
Waterloo DGC would like to thank all the volunteers, all the groups that organized projects, and Austin Parks Foundation for the huge task or organizing it all!
IMPD happens twice a year: the first Saturday of March and the first Saturday of November. Hope to see you at an IMPD project this fall :)

THANK YOU VERY MUCH to all the volunteers who came out to Zilker last Saturday for It's My Park Day, Spring! We had 31 volunteers and we spread a lot of mulch plus picked up some trash. It was such a good group that we finished early and were able to avoid the worst of the rain, phew! Lou Rigler, Karl Loftis, and Nick Schatz did a fantastic job of keeping everything running smoothly.
Thank you to the Austin Parks Foundation and Austin Parks & Recreation for their ongoing work to create, maintain, and improve the many beautiful parks we have in our city; and for their support of disc golf.
Thank you also to our workday sponsors: Disc Nation and Another Round Austin.
Most of you received your $5 Disc Nation gift certificate which you can use online or at either of their locations (south & north, and both stores have a large selection of used golf discs); if you didn’t get a gift certificate just let me know and we’ll get you one.
All of your names have been given to Another Round Austin so you can go by their store any time in the next 6 months and get either a free used golf disc or $10 off a new golf disc. They’ll have your name up at the register.
If you would like to try the sport or have been playing just a little while, both Disc Nation and Another Round Austin have friendly & experienced staff who can help you pick out a good beginner disc to get you started.
