Excellent Service. Clean facility, appreciate the COVID protocols. Heather is an excellent therapist!!
I had the MOST amazing massage by Stephen at Myo while in Austin! They only had a 30 min slot available that day, but it was truly one of the best I have ever had and relieved a lot of the neck tension and pinch nerve pain I was experiencing. Totally recommend Myo!!!!! Thank you for such professional service and a super clean environment. Love the special touch of preferred warmth and music.
Are you craving in-person yoga? Join me Saturdays (9:30am) in October at the Triangle. Outdoors and spaced apart. Please share and bring a friend. Advance sign-up required at:

FLOW YOGA: EXPLORING TRANSITIONS WITH ABIGAIL CLARKE
5 Week Series - Saturdays in October - 9:30am
Most injuries in yoga occur during transitions between poses rather than the poses themselves. In this 5 week series, each class will break down a different common transition within the context of a flow/vinyasa based class focused on alignment, strength, and relaxation.

This yoga series will be held outdoors in order to allow good air circulation and social distancing.

The introductory rate of $75 includes all 5 classes - save $50!

My one on one session with Feldenkrais practioner is reassuring and nourishing for me, experiencing Michelle's deep knowledge and throughtful application of the 'miracle' of Feldenkrais. The twice weekly classes have been amazing helping me have more fluid movements and capacity to move effectively through my world, with less and less discomfort.. Yay! The one on one session w/ Michelle gives me personal physical change work that I carry into my day to day wellness, building on my class experience. Give this gift to yourself.

Thank you for 15 amazing years!

We are celebrating our 15th Anniversary with 15% off everything, from now through the end of 2021! This applies to full priced services, gift certificates, and retail, but not to pre-payments for 2022, or to already discounted items, memberships, class packs, and packages.

As we celebrate the holidays with our families, we're thankful for so much. The past two years have been quite the ride, but they've also provided space for reflection and recharge, new ideas and projects, and reconnection with what's important.

For us, that means you! We are so grateful that it's our job to make people feel better every day, continuously learn about the body, and fine tune our problem-solving skills.

Here's to 15 more years serving the Austin community with high quality movement therapy, acupuncture, and the best massage therapists in Austin!

Cheers,

The Myo Crew

We're so thrilled to have Lisa back! Lisa is a professional dancer and an experienced group fitness teacher. She has developed some unique classes just for Myo, drawing on her background in dance, pilates, barre, boot camps, and natural movement.

BUILD AND BALANCE (THURSDAYS @ 5:45)
This is a contemporary movement class designed to develop heightened standing balance, core strength, and mindful movement practice with a fun, athletic approach. Using a "bootcamp" approach (focusing on short, intensive, and rigorous challenges to movement, versus a military or grueling style of training), the class will build quickly with low-impact cardio circuits to start, and will progress to sustained, isolated balancing exercises for strength building. This is an all levels class geared for humans of any age looking for a low-impact, strengthening and balance-focused workout.

TONE AND STRETCH (THURSDAYS @ 6:45)
In this class we will activate targeted muscle groups and work on flexibility. Together, activating and lengthening the muscles leads to more usable, active range of motion compared to passive stretching. The goal is greater mobility AND strength throughout the range of motion, so that you can control and balance even in precarious positions. This leads to a reduction of pain and injury, joint health and longevity, as well as an increased ability to move freely and easily.

MOVELAB (SUNDAYS @ 10:45)
In the Move Lab we will explore, play, and build the foundations of natural human movement, such as balance, core strength, and mobility. This training method focuses on variety and adaptability as opposed to repetitive skills training, which leads to greater resilience, strength and capacity in everything you do. Using coordinated movements such as transitions between sitting, standing and squatting, balancing on narrow or uneven surfaces, bodyweight exercises, lifting, or climbing.

Have you ever gotten a massage and it seemed like the therapist didn’t listen to your needs?

Listening is at the heart of what we do!

We start with your history, goals, and preferences, but it doesn’t end with your words. We also listen to your posture & movement habits, mobility and restrictions, injuries and inflammation, emotional and energetic states, and the way you respond to the work we do together. Listening informs everything that follows.

Come be heard!

Myo is a local Massage and Movement Studio, owned and operated by massage therapists, dedicated to quality, result-oriented therapeutic massage. We are seeking candidates with exceptional quality of touch and knowledge base, preferably with a myofascial / clinical / athletic / structural massage and/or lymphatic massage background.

Scheduling is flexible but the majority of available shifts are on the weekend, and at least one weekend shift would be mandatory except in exceptional circumstances. Full or part time are possible. Although we generally require a minimum of 2-3 years clinical experience for consideration, candidates with the right foundation and willingness to grow are encouraged to apply, particularly if you can offer open weekend availability. We currently have more demand than we can keep up with, so it is a good time to join the team.

We value our therapists and believe in creating a supportive and challenging workplace to nourish your growth and passion for the work. Thanks to the quality and versatility of our therapists, we have a strong reputation in Austin. While we offer a wide range of services, we are not a spa, and our clientele is generally seeking support in athletic training or pain management.

Our COVID-19 procedures include health screenings, mandatory masks for everyone throughout the session, HEPA filters in each room, and 30 minutes in between each appointment for sanitization.

We offer:
Competitive Pay and PTO
Supportive environment dedicated to professional growth
Performance Incentives
Mentorship opportunities
Continuing Education @ the Myo Institute
Flexible time off

Please no calls or drop-ins. For information on us, please visit our website at https://myoaustin.com.

As an ex-employee of the high-tech industry Stephen understands how prolonged sitting in front of a computer and job stress can lead to chronic pain, headaches, tension, and muscle dysfunction. As a professional dancer, yogi, rock climber, and ex-runner, Stephen knows that one’s passions can at times lead to injury. He understands the pain and needs of those who suffer from symptoms found in such conditions as ankylosing spondylitis, fibromyalgia, or spondyloarthropathy, which makes him a very effective therapist in treating and managing pain.

A session with Stephen includes communication and feedback to provide a treatment process that includes right pressure and best technique to help alleviate muscle tension and relieve pain. He seeks to create an environment to help you relax and breathe comfortably during your massage session. He has over 12 years of experience as a massage therapist in the Austin area and over 10 years of experience as a clinical massage therapist in a chiropractic environment.

When Stephen is not providing massages, he is often practicing self-care and relaxing with his cats or he is exploring the many different cultures and communities that can be found in the Austin area.

Covid isolation has taken a real toll on us all. One surprising thing we’ve noticed is how much we miss even the casual contact of strangers in community spaces, and how much that impacts stress, anxiety and depression.

Come share space with us, bathe in the lush vibrations of gongs and singing bowls, and begin to release the stress of covid isolation! This class combines the proven benefits of meditation with the joy of sharing your experience with others.

Have you thought about how much less you move in a quarantine lifestyle? If you were working from home and getting groceries delivered, you were moving a lot less than before, even if your “exercise” level stayed the same. It may not seem like much, but walking to and from your car, moving around a large office building throughout the day, or reaching for groceries on the top shelf adds up!

Are you ready to get back to moving more? So are we!!

New in person classes start May 15, with even more starting in June. Indoor classes have HEPA filtration and require masks.

If you want to ramp up your movement slowly with a mindful approach, consider Feldenkrais, Floor Barre, or Slow Flow yoga.

If you’re ready to challenge yourself to move in new and different ways, try MoveLab, Pilates, Core Barre or Tone & Stretch!

Check out our class schedule at https://myoaustin.com/class-schedule/ for more!

Fascia is a sheath of connective tissue consisting primarily of a 3-D collagen matrix that surrounds and holds every organ, blood vessel, bone, nerve fiber and muscle in place. It has the capability to expand and contract with heat and friction. It is responsible for holding and connecting everything inside the body together.

The fascial system reflects patterns of strain based on the activities in our daily routines and workouts, as well as from our history of injury and our growth patterns from birth to adolescence. These patterns can define our movement patterns and limitations and can also influence which areas are most susceptible to injury. Just imagine the system responsible for holding everything in its right place is stuck or under constant pressure. This can cause a chain-reaction of body issues and pain far from the source that may feel like they have no real cause or pattern.

That’s where massage therapy is most beneficial. Therapists trained in Myofascial release can help expand and hydrate fascia and soften adhesions between layers, and help identify the root cause of tension or pain. When the health of your connective tissue improves, it has wide ranging effects, enhancing your body’s range of motion, correcting muscle imbalances, improving neuromuscular efficiency, shortening recovery times from strains and sprains and decreasing the overall effects of stress on the human movement system.
