I don't get to break out the rifle very often, but with fairly heavy rains this morning it was the perfect time to sit in the box blind with the Savage. 270. Can't kill em from the couch!

Visited Ohio last week for my first Midwest Whitetail hunt. Leading up to the trip, it was hard not to have fantasies of monster deer and huge racks. The goal was really a mature deer that represents the area. Well, every now and then dreams do come true.

Javalina down. Been wanting to get one for years! I had to move blinds because of wasps. As I'm getring my stuff out of the truck and into the blind 3 step out. I didn't even have my rifle! I had to go back to the truck to get it! Got part of it on camera not sure how much, it was kind of chaotic.

It's been a challenging season full of ups and downs. A few hits along with some misses, moments of confidence mixed with some doubts. But during such times I'm reminded of a stanza in one of my favorite poems by Walter D. Wintle "Thinking".
"Life's battles don't always go
To the stronger or faster man;
But sooner or later the person who wins
Is the one who thinks he can!"
