TOMII CYCLES x SIMWORKS "Farwest" Grip

It’s been about a year since the Faraway Tire, developed in the previous SimWorks x Tomii Cycles collaboration.

When it comes to tire tread patterns, they’re typically designed with the riding surface in mind, prioritizing grip and rolling resistance—so they generally result in practical, function-focused designs. But when filtered through Nao Tomii’s philosophy of “Build Fun Bikes!”, the result is something that’s not only functional but also, well, a lot of fun.Born from his “Build Fun Bikes!” spirit, the Farwest Grip is the second collaboration between SimWorks and Tomii Cycles.

When it comes to unique grips, Austin is the mecca of BMX. There, you’ll find grips devised by BMX manufacturers as well as signature models from pro riders living in Austin. Austin, where Nao lives, is actually a paradise for grip development. Since they were tested repeatedly in such a place, their comfort is guaranteed. We’ve used a slightly thicker profile and a compound that provides a secure grip. We focused not just on how cute they look, but on the feel of the grip itself.

While race-spec and functional products have their merits, we believe that products brimming with fun and creativity like this are just as important.
