📣 Spring League Starts This Week
ETIQUETTE EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW!
Week 1 of the Spring K9 Frisbee League Season kicks off Saturday, April 19 — or on a different day depending on where your Club plays. We’re thrilled to welcome hundreds of new faces, many of whom are brand new not just to the League, but to disc do***ng and dog sports in general.
💛 Veteran members, you know the drill — let’s give our rookies a warm welcome. Help them learn, cheer them on, and show them what makes League so special.
One of the best parts of playing in a Club is that it's not just about individual competition — it's about community. You root for each other, help each other, and rely on each other. It’s what makes League days (or nights!) the highlight of every dog’s week!
💡 League Night Tips & Field Etiquette
Whether you’re a newcomer or just need a quick refresher, here’s how to keep League running smoothly and safely for everyone:
1. Let your Captain know if you’ll be late or can’t make it — don’t leave them wondering.
2. Pay your Club fees promptly — Captains have enough to juggle already.
3. Keep your dog secured when not playing — leashed and away from the field, crated, or safely in your vehicle.
4. Respect other dogs’ space — even leashed dogs can get reactive around excited, high-drive Frisbee dogs. Always keep a respectful distance.
5. Pick up your p**p. Seriously. Every time.
6. Label your discs with a permanent marker — avoids mix-ups and walk-offs.
7. No throwing near the field during a round — it’s distracting and potentially dangerous.
8. Don’t touch another team’s disc during their round — point it out, call the dog, but let the handler retrieve it.
9. Judges, call it fair. When in doubt, give the benefit to the team.
10. Be a good sport — when watching, playing, and judging.
⏱️ Be Ready When It’s Your Turn:
IN THE HOLE → ON DECK → UP
Knowing where you are in the rotation helps the night move quickly and keeps everyone focused.
A. IN THE HOLE:
🐕 Walk and potty your dog (yes, and clean it up).
🎒 Gather what you need: discs, leash, water, etc.
B. ON DECK:
⏳ Wait at the end of the field where you'll be throwing.
🐶 Keep your dog focused and ready — you’re next!
C. UP!!!
🎯 When it’s go time:
1. Wait for the previous team to leash their dog and clear the field.
2. Step up to the starting line and unleash your dog.
3. Let judges know if you’d like a practice throw.
4. Ensure sideline judges are in position — one on each side.
5. Give a clear “Thumbs Up” when ready behind the line.
6. Wait for “Ready, Set, Go...” — and bring the heat!
🧺 Whether you're a seasoned veteran or it’s your first time on the field, ask your Club Captain how you can help — setup, teardown, judging, scorekeeping, or just being a supportive teammate.
Let’s make this Spring Season another one to remember — full of flying discs, happy dogs, great sportsmanship, and that unbeatable K9 Frisbee League energy.
🐕🦺💨 Good luck, have fun, and fetch on!
