THURSDAY, AUGUST 21ST, 9:21AM: AVALON BEACH PATROL CLOSES OCEAN TO SURFERS AND SWIMMERS; CONCERT CANCELLED

The Avalon Beach Patrol is prohibiting access to the ocean for surfers and swimmers on Thursday, August 21st, until further notice. Individuals are prohibited from entering the ocean in Avalon until the prohibition is lifted. Rough surf and strong rip currents are in the forecast. Even though skies will clear Friday, rough surf and strong rip currents may continue. The Beach Patrol will evaluate conditions in the morning.

Also, due to the threat of moderate tidal flooding, tonight's concert at Avalon's Surfside Park is cancelled and will not be held inside Community Hall. If we receive the tidal flooding anticipated during this evening's high tide, driving conditions will be unfavorable on local streets.

Out of an abundance of caution, Surf Camp will be closed this week as Hurricane Erin passes through. Sending love to our community—see you all when it’s safe to paddle out again 🤍🌊
