This weekend had a bit of everything: the boat going too fast, transmission problems, a Sunday morning thrash, and Dad driving all the way to the final.

Definitely not the weekend we had planned, but still a good one for MacKillican Motorsports.

We used a new tuning software this weekend called BlownLogic and came away really impressed.

It was super helpful and has a lot of added features that a lot of other tuning software doesn’t have.

We came into the National Jet Boat Association weekend a little blind after winter motor changes, so we started with a soft tune-up and went 4.82. Pulled some blower out for the second pass and ran a 5.03.

Saturday night, while servicing the motor and transmission, we found an issue with the transmission CO2 regulator that burned up the transmission on that second pass. At 6:30 Sunday morning, I called Scott Owens because we didn’t have the parts to fix it. We drove an hour, met him on the side of the highway, and he freshened up the transmission in hopes of getting us back for first round.

We ran out of time and missed the call, but the motor and transmission are fresh now. At this point, we just need to figure out how to slow this thing down.

After missing first round, that left us with only Dad’s boat still in eliminations. He did a great job driving and made it all the way to the final with a 5.21, coming up just short to Wes Conn’s 5.20.

All in all, a great weekend for MacKillican Motorsports.

I’m looking forward to returning to Bakersfield in the fall after the CDBA season. As for everyone messaging me telling me I need to step up to TAH… we’ll see what happens.
