‼️ A drill to help with off-speed!!‼️

Set up for front toss (flips)

Put a T with a ball on the outside corner.

If coach flips the ball, you hit that flipped ball as if it’s fastball.

If coach fakes a flip you land in control and hit the ball on the t the opposite way!

It will teach you how to stay in control of your body and slow the game down! If you are moving fast and out of controlled you will be exposed!

Want to be a GREAT hitter! Learn to hit the fastest pitch! An inside fastball!

You have to catch it the furthest out front, meaning you have less time, meaning it’s the fastest pitch!

There’s not one great hitter who can’t turn on a fastball!

Make box adjustments! Can’t lay off a sinker or CB, move up in the box and take some of break away

Back in travel ball and through high school, my brother and I always worked two swings:

1. Our normal one we were constantly refining.

2. Our “MLB swing.”

And that MLB swing was us imitating A-Rod — easily the nicest right-handed swing I’ve ever seen.
So during BP, we’d channel A-Rod.

That didn’t mean chasing every mechanical checkpoint. It meant swinging at about 75%, as smooth as possible in one fluid motion, and sticking a strong follow-through.

We did this to build an athletic, rhythmic, controlled swing!

I’ll never forget one day while playing AA in Hartford CT, I shot my dad a text saying, I need to do my A-Rod swing today. Had the best BP I’ve had in weeks because of that shift, which then translated to a good game offensively.

And this was something I was doing at 10, but I always had this in my back pocket, even at the professional level!

Give it a shot. Pick the most fluid hitter you love, copy his movements, stay athletic, and get flowing.

Get the pitchers time in the dugout! When you get on first there is no time to waste! If you’re fast, have the green light and you have done your HW in the dugout—

You’re gone first pitch!

And if you are even more advanced, you look in after the first 2 steps, if you see the catcher is setup for a pitch out; you turn that steal into a fake steal and hustle back! It’s cat and mouse, but your the cat and you’re going to get that bag ⚡️

Stay inside the ball the correct way!!!

Drive the k**b to the pitcher before releasing the head!!

Here is the kicker that hitters get confused! You still need to release the clubhead and catch it out front!

If you drive the k**b but don’t catch it out front you’ll hit weak flares!

If you release the head but don’t drive the k**b, you’ll rollover

Train that sweet spot

🤦‍♂️STOP TAKING THIS PITCH!!!

Stop letting pitchers off the hook and letting the 0-0 hanger float into the zone!

That is literally easier to hit than a BP fastball! It has spin, and it’s elevated, the perfect combo for a line drive or homer in the gap.

But if you’d rather start the count 0-1 on possibly the best pitch you’ll see all game, don’t swing! The dangerous hitters are hunting and they lick their chops when they see that!

Want to become a threat, swing at that pitch with some intent.
