TODAY IS THE DAY! We can’t wait to see you at Wheels, Words & Wags this morning.

And if you haven’t submitted your bike giveaway entry yet, you can still enter ON SITE! Bring your poem, letter or short story and turn it in between 9:00–10:30 AM for a chance to win a bike!

Wheel words and wags 🐕.

A community interactive event promoting stewardship, volunteering, bicycle safety awareness and pet adoption.

Come join the fun and enjoy a story walk at the David Nelson Pocket park, reading the ruby bridges story.

Painting bicycle helmets as well a community mural. Pup 🐶 cup treats and ice cream 🍦 provided by Frosty Fun Wagon Ice cream as well a bike giveaway away.

The bikes will be awarded to children that have written a short story or poem, describing where they would go on an adventure with their bike. Or what would having a bike mean to them?

Winners will be selected at the upcoming wheels words and wags event.

Help us wish 🤞🏾 one of our good friends 💚 and community partners Frosty Fun Wagon Ice cream a happy birthday 🎂 🥳 and show up to wheel words & wags August 8th, 2026 at the David Nelson Pocket park.

Don't be shy, help us make his wish come true, by entering our bike giveaway. 😉

Children can write ✍️🏾 a short story, or poem.

Describing where their adventure on a bike would take them.

Through our community partnership 🙌🏾 with Children First, Frosty Fun Wagon Ice cream, , calwalks, Kern County Public Works & City of Bakersfield we've collaborated on this effort in our continued pursuit to bring together literacy bike safety environmental stewardship and animals for one fun morning at the park.

Come prepared to learn key 🔑 bicycle 🚲 repair techniques, safety awareness and some cool tricks to. Dont forget to bring your helmets and learn how to properly wear, adjust and customize it.

Today's the day! Join us for Sprouts & Smiles!

We're excited to partner with Children First and California Women for Agriculture for an afternoon celebrating the joys of spending time outdoors!

Stop by the station to create your own Nature's Tapestry! Explore the park, collect fallen natural treasures and weave them together with rescued flowers and greenery into a beautiful work of art to take home.

A huge thank you to for generously donating botanicals to help bring our hands on activity to life. We appreciate your support in giving beautiful blooms a second life!

The fun doesn't stop there! Families can also enjoy:

• Planting & pot painting
• An engaging lesson about caring for our environment
• Lawn games
• FREE pizza & refreshments

A sweet moment of connection between one of our Jr. Entrepreneurs and a sweet rescue kitten from . Reminding us that Earth Day isn’t just about the planet but about compassion, care and community in all forms of life.

From our youth to our local rescue organizations, we come together with a shared purpose. To protect, to nurture and to love this world (and all who live in it) a little more intentionally.
