Northwest Robotics is a new club started this year, 2012 which focuses on building a robot to enter the FIRST Robotics Competition, held every spring. Teams of high school students compete to build robots that can complete a challenge, which changes every year. Last year's theme was basketball, so teams had to construct a robot, that can operate autonomously as well as when guided by wireless controls to pick up a ball and put it in a basket. Challenge details are revealed at the beginning of January and the teams are given six weeks to construct a competitive robot.
