I attended this workshop earlier this week and whew! It was a lot of fun and a TON of information! Shout out to all of these amazing birth workers doing the work and learning new skills to better support birthing families. While I’ll admit, my doula business has slowed down significantly (on purpose), it was invigorating to be in community with and learning alongside so many other doulas.

Let's bring together community and support Kristin, Steven and big brother Liam with some warm and nourishing meals as they adjust to a family of four. Today is also Steven's first day back to work so they could use all of the support available. 🤟
For financial donations, instead of going through the MealTrain platform (which takes a % for fees), the family prefers to send money to:

Why do I like sharing images of a baby with a placenta? Because I think, so often, we forget how *bodily* this experience is...
During pregnancy there are flowy dresses and belly oil...and once the baby is here? Well the baby easily becomes everyone's main interest. And we say words like wonder, love, adore, cherish because giving birth IS this hugely emotional experience.
But we grow these babies inside of our bodies...we grow an entire human and an entire organ...and then we give birth to both in a sea of amniotic fluid and blood.
I think images like this remind me of how much bodily work it is to grow a human. It's incredible and messy and beautiful and raw. And it's powerful. You can't look at images like this and not be blown away by how powerful giving birth can be...
