This morning I fished with Mark (Navy Veteran). Today was one of those days when everything seems to be going wrong but ends up being right! We left right at dark. My motor decided not to work this morning but I decided to go without it. Mark picked up a keeper trout within the first 10 minutes. I picked up a keeper trout about 5 minutes after that. Rain was all around us but we managed to stay mostly dry. We fished the edges of a reef and I picked up a 28 inch drag pulling red. Mark picked up another keeper trout and 2 more drum. I picked up 2 more keeper drum. We hit one last spot. Current was ripping through there. I was using my stake out pole to hold my position then it got caught in my rudder. π I was moving into position when my drive gave way. Broken mast. π. On our way back I noticed one of my rudder cables that drops my rudder had busted π. I told Mark, it's time for me to get off the water. Too many signs! We loaded up and went down the street to get more ice for the fish. A family was there trying to change out a tire. They said their jack had broken. I pulled mine out and helped them change out the tire. God always has a plan! π

Did a little grocery run this afternoon. Went to a nearby spot. Got on the water around 1:30pm. I was fishing a fairly wind protected area. Tide was very high and the tide was supposed to be moving in until around 5pm. I was planning on fishing a flooded marsh. On my way there I stopped and fished around what is normally a shallow reef. Picked up 6 reds but all between 17 to 19 inches. I moved to another nearby reef. Same thing except there were also some keeper drum on the edge of the reef. I made my way to the marsh and picked up a 19 inch red. Fished that area for a while but no other bites. I ended the day with 4 keeper drum and caught 9 undersized reds. Had a blast even though the reds weren't big enough. I always love making black drum fish tacos! π

Had a trip with Larry and Juan today. We started late because of the front that was going through this morning. Wind was blowing! After the rain passed and the wind came down to a safer wind speed we hit the water around mid morning. Water was all churned up. The area where I had been catching wasn't safely reachable because of the high winds. So we hit different reefs that were nearby. We found a group of birds working an area by a reef. Caught one undersized speck there before they broke up. We fished a nearby reef and we picked up 2 undersized reds and Juan picked up a small flounder. We hit one last spot and nothing. Tough conditions but Larry and Juan fished hard all day. I couldn't ask for better customers.

Recent "Texas Slam" customer Steven contacted me and wanted to book another trip for himself and his friend John (Army Veteran and retired Police Officer). Low tide in the morning with almost zero wind and mosquitoes were out!!! We fished some submerged structure first thing. A few fish here and there. We ended up finding them on a nearby reef. Almost every cast we were getting a hit or a fish. We estimated 15 to 30 fish caught. John caught a red early and at almost noon he caught a keeper trout. We went looking for flounder to try to get him a slam but no luck with the flounder π. Ended the day with 4 trout, 1 red, 3 drum, and a crab π¦. I had one 24 inch drum that put up a good fight. I released it. Most fish were caught on Old 18 Kinetic rods with Lil Woodie corks. Thanks again for your service John!!! πΊπ²

This morning I had a trip with Mark, Robert (Retired police officer), and Steven. Winds were light in the morning with an incoming tide. We fished some underwater structure using Woodie popping corks and other brands of corks. It's funny how fish will group up. I had Steven on my left and Mark on my right. Steven was catching trout and Mark was catching reds and drum. I was catching a mix and so was Robert. The first highlight of the day was Steven catching his PB flounder 20.5 inches. By the end of the day we had the second highlight which was that he caught a Texas slam. Mark caught one too (his first ever) but it was a nursery slam but still a slam! We caught a lot of undersized reds, drum, and trout but ended the day with 3 keeper trout, 2 keeper drum, 1 BIG Flounder, and 1 keeper red. Pretty good day overall! Thank you for your service Robert!!! πΊπ²
