Enthusiasts. Drivers. Community. The group often hung out, built cars, studied God’s Word, and went on drives (bounces).
Our club was founded in 2005 by a group of friends: a set of twins, a short Italian, a boost-happy construction worker, and an athletic native of Arizona; while driving home to Portland from Hot Import Nights in Seattle. By now we have all heard the news of Paul Walker’s untimely death over Thanksgiving weekend. Regardless of the controversy of street racing, lack of realism, or one’s opinion on large spoilers and flashy graphics, the F&F movies ignited the petrol-fueled dreams of a generation of young gear-heads and brought import racing to the mainstream.
Walker’s death comes as a shocking reminder of our own mortality, and the inherently risky nature of this race we call life. I am grateful that I have a gracious Heavenly Father who will welcome me into heaven when my time comes. Not because I’m a good guy, I’m not, but because His Son, Jesus, gave his life for mine.
