Yes, this beast of a climbing gym (+ lofts) is still very much on the way! The part VITAL and design team is most excited about? THE ROOFTOP! - bouldering, fire pits, event space and a yoga deck… all with killer views!

Sending temps are upon us and the mountains are calling!

Yes, Chalkboard/Arete/VITAL mega rope gym is still on the way! We can thank our new administration’s massive budget cuts for a wee delay in breaking ground. This said, this incredible climbing gym with full amenities… now including a giant sauna and cold plunge (!) and 36 residential units above… is moving through the permitting process.

Keep the positive vibes coming...onward and upward!

As we near the next phases of the permitting process with the City of Bellingham, we’re honing in on a ground-breaking date and will keep you posted. CAN. NOT. WAIT! Stay tuned!

If you didn't see the Chalkboard / VITAL newsletters last month, we're excited to announce the addition of 36 apartments above the gym, which are called "Arête"! Pretty fun to think of wandering downstairs or to the rooftop for a morning yoga class, spin on the stationary bike or a climbing session ☕🏘🧘‍♂️ 🧗

We're back to pushing through the permitting process with the City, who has been nothing but supportive, and aim to break ground as soon as humanly possible. Stay tuned!

We couldn’t be more excited to announce that we have teamed up with VITAL to help make this project a reality. VITAL has served as the home for the Bellingham climbing community since 2013, and is the perfect partner to help bring this vision to life.
