The building on our 2 homes have been moving so rapidly. I will be posting the different stages that have been done in the next few weeks. We hired BJ and BJ construction to build. They started in March and have been doing a great job.
Site Preparation was the first step along with putting in the framework with panels and gravel before they could pour cement. This video is pouring the foundation.
Stages of Building a House Stage 2 Foundation
The site preparation is completed, Now the foundation has been prepared and the concrete has been poured and smoothed out.

This is really happening. This first real stage of building our homes started in April. We hired DJ and DJ Construction to do this. There was a slight delay on the second lot but that is all history now. This is so exciting.

They are the Best
Thank you to our 2022 Presenting Sponsor Detec Systems for supporting youth, veterans, families and seniors! Business sponsors allow us to offer our programs regardless of financial ability, keeping mental health support accessible to those in need and helping us care for our rescued animals. We couldn't do this work without them!

Special memories
One of our interns wrote this beautiful poem about her time at ANT and gave us permission to share it. She so tenderly captures what a special experience it is to be alongside the animals. Thank you Tamia!

Love in action
Such a tender moment! One of our teens didn't feel comfortable working with the horses yet, so she elected to sit with our rabbit Chanel during the session. Cotton (therapy horse) really wanted to come say hello, and they greeted each other so gently, going nose to nose for the first time. Chanel even inched up out of her basket to get closer to Cotton! We love seeing new friendships blossoming at the farm 💚

So cute
At the end of a session our teen girls get to journal about their day. Therapy horse Cotton chose this opportunity last week to get up close and personal with his participant, who is trying to work on setting boundaries (earlier in the day she told Cotton that she worries about attending a high school where she knows there will be pressure to use drugs). As she sat down to write, Cotton started gently nudging her chest with his nose; not enough to hurt, but firm enough to distract from her journaling.
She asked, "Why is he doing that?" We talked about what he could be communicating and why some people push us around, and then explored ways to set a boundary with Cotton that were clear but kind. She firmly told him that he needed to give her space and let her finish her task, and he lifted his head and took a step back.
These small moments of practice amount, over time, to greater command of the words & actions that will support lifelong wellbeing. We trust the horses to give us the lessons we need!
