Re:generate is in less than one month! Join Babatunji , Moscelyne ParkeHarrison , Colin Frederick , Robin Dekkers , and Ja’Moon Jones for a process based workshop centered on ‘what’s next’ in the field of dance. Each choreographer will lead a day at the workshop, guiding participants through a warm up class and their creative process.

Announcing Re:generate Professional Dancer Workshop 2025

Refine your skills, revitalize your imagination, and renew your passion for movement with the next generation of choreographers at a new week-long intensive, Monday, July 7– Friday, July 11 at the Berkeley Ballet studios. Designed to connect professional dancers with choreographers to collectively explore “what’s next” in the field of dance, Re:generate will be led by five Bay Area-based choreographers: Babatunji, Robin Dekkers, Colin Frederick, Ja’Moon Jones, and Moscelyne ParkeHarrison.
Dancers aged 18+ with post-secondary dance education and/or professional dance experience are invited to apply by Tuesday, July 1, 2025 to be considered for this intensive; dancers will be invited on a rolling basis, and please feel welcome to contact us with additional questions.

Magma Performer Spotlight: Crystaldawn Bell
CRYSTALDAWN BELL (she/they) earned her BFA from California Institute of the Arts. She has worked with Robert Moses’ KIN, Labayen Dance/SF, Anne Bluethenthal and Dancers, Stranger Lover Dreamer, Paufve Dance, Nina Haft & Co, Todd Eckert, Garrett + Moulton Productions, and ODC. She received an Isadora Duncan Award (Izzie) for “Outstanding Achievement in Performance-Ensemble” and has been nominated on three other occasions for “Outstanding Performance-Individual.” Crystaldawn was recognized as a Refinery 29: 30 under 30 and was the recipient of the Aninstantia Grant. In addition to her work with Post:ballet, she is currently working with EIGHT/MOVES. Crystaldawn is on faculty at Saint Mary’s College of California and Shawl-Anderson Dance Center.

Magma Collaborator Spotlight: Pakela Newalu-Gomes*
PAKELA NEWALU-GOMES (they/them) began their dance training at age twelve at a local studio on O’ahu, Hawai’i. They later attended Dominican University of California, where they received their B.F.A. in Dance. During their studies, .png had the opportunity to work with Gregory Dawson’s dawsondancesf Bear Graham’s James Graham Dance Theater. Upon graduating, they joined Contemporary West Dance
Theater in Las Vegas, Nevada. Pakela is currently based in Berkeley and is excited to be working with Post:ballet!

Magma Performer Spotlight: Isaac Bates-Vinueza
ISAAC BATES - VINUEZA (he/him) lives in Berkeley, CA. He has danced with Sacramento Ballet, Amy Seiwert’s Imagery, and LED Boise, and currently dances with Post:Ballet and SFDanceworks. He made his professional choreographic debut in 2022 at Sacramento Ballet, and that same year, was awarded the Ann and Weston Hicks Choreography Fellowship at Jacob’s Pillow. Isaac is also pursuing a degree in English at UC Berkeley.
