2026 CLOSING DATE - THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 5TH
As it is every year, it is hard to believe that the 2026 golf season is getting close to the end. This year has flown by! It has been another wonderful season at Mascoutin! Tons of great golf, hole-in-ones, member events, outings, Ladies Days, Men's Leagues, Senior Cups, Junior Golfers, and Monday Night Happy Hours. But as the days get shorter and the morning dew turns to frost, we start to get ready for the course to be put to rest for the winter months.
With a little less than two weeks away, our scheduled last day of the 2026 golf season will be Thursday, November 5th. Jason Bell, our Superintendent, and his dedicated staff, will blow out the irrigation system on all three nines with a compressor that Mascoutin reserves a year in advance. After that job, they will spend the next couple weeks applying a number of different fertilizers and fungicide applications to the entire golf course. One of these products is snow mold application to the tees, fairways, and greens. As you know, our greens at Mascoutin are incredible. The winter snow mold application is one of the reasons we start every golf season with greens that seem to be in mid season form. Before spraying, Jason mixes the snow mold application with a darkening agent. This is a heavily pigmented product designed to darken the leaf blade. It is a product that, once applied, needs to be left alone as it can be tracked off the fairways and off the greens with any cart or foot traffic. So please, once the course is closed, it is closed. After the course is completely closed, Jason and his crew will continue to remove trees and stumps around the golf course. They hope to have nearly all the stumps removed this winter.
The next big upcoming event is our 8-Pack offering that begins at 7am on Black Friday, November 27th. If you are planning on purchasing an 8-Pack for the 2027 season, please do not delay as these sell out very quickly. Look for an informational email from Todd DeRuyter in the next few weeks that will give the details of the 2027 8-Pack Program.
