This weekend, an extraordinary initiative took place! Students from Shawsheen Valley Regional Vocational Technical School District spent 8 hours engaging in a group project to enhance our community's appearance. Their collaborative efforts yielded almost 40 bags of trash. Kudos to Olivia, the organizer, and gratitude to Ms. O'Brien, who facilitated planning for a continuation of the 2026 Billerica Clean Up Green Up Week. Good news: we filled two large dumpsters at the DPW and there are still bags and trash being picked up from this weekend 👏🏻🎉🤩Unfortunately, we were not able to take a photo of the dumpsters or weigh them before they were hauled away. How many bags did you fill? Please comment below.

Happy World Environment Day! Make this every day, because we only have one Earth. Choices we make can help to keep pollution out of our waterways:
1. Use fertilizer and pesticides sparingly
2. Choose no-phosphorus fertilizer
3. Dispose yard debris properly
4. Use native or drought-tolerant plants
5. Plant a rain garden
6. Use mulch to help retain moisture in your garden and prevent erosion
7. Pick up after your pets
