Congratulations Kk for representing Steel Rugby at the Mary Graham All Star tournament with the USA South Panthers! Great work on the win today and we cannot wait to watch you all crush it tomorrow!!

Our last fall match MVP goes to one of our newer players, Victoria. Whether at prop, lock or 8, she plays with great strength and intensity. Against the Queens, Victoria really found her groove and was a consistent force for us the whole match. Well deserved, and keep it up! ⚒💚

Our last match this year was a great test against the Queens from ‘Nooga. We played with grit and heart for every second and were able to pull out a win. Steel Rugby finished the fall with a 3-0 record in regular matches, and a 3-3 record in tournament play. Not too shabby for our first official season as a club.

We will be taking a break for the winter and be back to work in January for the remainder of the 2022-2023 season.

The hammer winner from our last match against Huntsville goes to this speedy ball of power who never stops smiling! Taylor, may be one of our newer and youngest players, but she has quickly jumped into the Steel family and shown us what she can do! With strong runs, quick breaks, consistent rucking, tough tackling, great stamina and an unbeatable attitude—Taylor gave it her all on Saturday, and it definitely paid off. ⚒

Happy spooky day to all! Looking forward to a week full of Boos and Ahhs.

The first of the Birmingham v. Huntsville series ends with a Steel Win! It was a tough match—back and forth for most of the game with a come back from behind to pull out the dub. As always, we very much enjoyed our time with the Supernovas and look forward to taking the pitch together again soon!

Last night we had some great opportunities—to welcome in the newest classes of inductees to the Birmingham Rugby Hall of Fame, meet and spend time with members from the original Birmingham Women’s Rugby team (2000-2003), and witness rugby take its place officially in the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame. What a momentous evening!!

It’s Hammer Time. Last weekend’s BOTP went to probably the coolest person on our team. Anyone who knows Agi is well aware she is full of energy and always ready for anything. This chica has played in almost every position at least once, but we love her at flanker because we get to see those tremendous tackles over and over. Keep crushin’ it, Swagi. Now time for that solo. 🎷

Teamed up with the Supernovas this weekend for the return of Heart of Dixie! Had a great time, as always, with our sister team to the north. Played two hard fought matches against Nashville and Chattanooga; we finished the day 1-1 with both games being a one score difference.

One of our own has been hit hard by Ian. If you have items you would like to donate to those who have lost everything, we will accept them at practice next week to make a trip down to south Florida. 💚

PSA to all. One of our own has been hit hard by hurricane Ian. Lauren “lo-key” Willis of family has been devastated by this hurricane in Ft. Meyers FL and is need of our help. We are holding a collection drive at our practices on Tuesday and Thursday nights at Erskine Ramsay Park 6:30-8:30 for non perishable foods mens clothing size Med-XL womens clothing, pillows, blankets, water, batteries, anything that is of daily use. We are going to fill her family with rugby love. Truck leaves 10/9 Thank you in advance

Our late night goes to the winner of the Steel Hammer from last weekend’s match against McMinn—Chelsey! She picked up a new position this Saturday with ease and power. Chels had several solid runs, great tackles (including a chase down that saved a try), and scored for the first time!! Heyyyy zuluuu warrior! You very much earned this. Congratulations. 💥
