Today we honor the strength, resilience, and progress of women — past, present, and future.

Women’s Equality Day commemorates the certification of the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote in the United States. It reminds us how far we've come — and how important it is to keep pushing for fairness, dignity, and equal opportunity.

As the first Black woman elected as District Attorney in the State of Alabama, I’m honored to be surrounded by other powerful women serving as prosecutors, judges, psychologists, counselors, law school professors, and more.

These women inspire me and remind me of the importance of representation, mentorship, and continuing to open doors for the next generation.

Here’s to all the women making history, building communities, and shaping justice every single day!
