I created this page a while ago and I have been in several conversations about Ritalin. It's time to keep people in the loop about psychotropic drugs and their kids. Don't let the SCHOOLS Pimp your child with this drug!

RITALIN: This DRUG is WAY too dangerous for your kids! Do your research!

FACT: Street names for Ritalin include: rits, rids, west coast, jif, mph, diet coke, kiddie coke, kiddie co***ne, vitamin R, R-ball, poor man's co***ne, skippy, skittles, smarties and the smart drug.

Long-Term Effects of Ritalin: Changes in Brain Development. Damage can lead to memory problems, disorientation and depression in adulthood. In Alzheimer's disease, the hippocampus is one of the first areas of the brain to suffer damage; memory problems and disorientation appear among the first symptoms.

FDA “Black Box” Warning Label
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires the following "black box" warning on all methylphenidate drugs, including Ritalin, which means that medical studies indicate Ritalin carries a significant risk of serious, or even life-threatening, adverse effects.

FACT: Many think Ritalin (methylphenidate) is safe, or mild, because so many children use it. However, the government classifies the psychoactive drug with co***ne and morphine because it is highly addictive.

FACT: U.S. DEPT. OF JUSTICE: “Of particular concern is that ADHD literature prepared for public consumption does not address the potential or actual abuse of methylphenidate. Instead, methylphenidate is routinely portrayed as a benign, mild substance that is not associated with abuse or serious side effects.

MEDICATIONS:
Psychostimulants (also known as stimulants) are the most commonly used ADHD drugs. Although these drugs are called stimulants, they actually have a calming effect on people with ADHD.

•Dextroamphetamine (Dexedrine, Dextrostat)
•Lisdexamfetamine (Vyvanse)
•Methylphenidate (Ritalin, Concerta, Metadate, Daytrana)

FACT: ADHD is the most commonly diagnosed behavioral disorder of childhood. It affects about 3 - 5% of school aged children. ADHD is diagnosed much more often in boys than in girls.
