Just read an article in the New York Times about the average kid's breakfast. The average kid's cereal has more sugar in it than 3 chips ahoy cookies! We as parents have to be the ones to do better and not be fooled by the slick advertising. General Mills listen up, Cocoa Puffs is NOT part of a nutritious breakfast!!

Just reading, one expert recommends to indulge daily. She says to splurge on a 100-200 calorie treat each day. "You need some wiggle room so you don't feel deprived, which is the main reason people get off track" I like her way of thinking and actually do it often! :)
After talking to someone this morning about their weight loss struggles, it made me realize you really need a BIG enough why. That might be serious health issues, loss of someone due to complications of obesity, etc. For me it was the kids. I realized if I didn't make significant changes that I might not even be around to see them graduate high school. There are no guarantees, but I have increased my chances of seeing them grow older ten fold! :)

I have done well for three years now on my healthier life style, but I still and probably never will be able to keep just anything in the house. It is a good thing it was only a SMALL bag of Paul Newman's chocolate chip cookies.... :)
Breakfast, as many have said, is one of the most, if not the most important meal of the day. But, what is even more important is what you eat. Breakfast needs to be higher protein and fiber and less carbs. It will help you to feel more full longer and does not mess with elevating your blood sugar levels and throwing them out of wack for the day.
