Congratulations to Coach Glenn Waters & his AFC South 2009 U16 Boys on reaching the USYS Southern Regionals Semifinal round by winning their bracket on the final day of the group stage! Outstanding job by the team representing Alabama FC/Birmingham United Soccer Association & Alabama Soccer Association. Best of luck to Coach Glenn & his team on Tuesday’s semifinal game.

“The Alabama FC 2008 U-17 Girls concluded their participation at the USYS Southern Presidents Cup Regional Tournament in Plano TX by wining their Group (A), making an outstanding run into the Semifinal round & falling to the State Champion from TN (1-2) in double OT.

The team advanced to the regional tournament by winning the U-17 Alabama State Cup last fall & competed versus some of the top clubs in the Southeast this past week. The girls had a great month and a half preparing for the event & played extremely well during the entire tournament.

It was an honor to coach this group at the USYS Southern Presidents Cup & I’m extremely proud of the effort and commitment displayed by the girls & beyond thankful for the support & encouragement from our team parents and families throughout the event.”

⚽️ 08 SCCL Girls | USYS Presidents Cup Semifinalists 💪

Our 08 SCCL girls battled through to the USYS Presidents Cup Regional Semifinal, where they fell just short in a hard-fought 1-2 double overtime match vs. USA North (TN) this morning.

This group showed heart, skill, and resilience every step of the way. 💙 We’re incredibly proud of their performance and how they represented AFC on and off the field.

Shoutout to the players, coaches, and amazing families for making this journey unforgettable. 🫶⚽️

Coach Mateo and our 08 SCCL Girls have arrived in Texas for USYS South Presidents Cup.

They earned their spot by winning Fall ‘24 ASA State Cup. Great job girls and good luck!!

Congratulations to the Alabama FC/Birmingham United Soccer Association U-17 ‘08 SCCL Girls on becoming Alabama State Cup Champions this past weekend in Foley AL. It’s their second consecutive State Cup title & the team will be representing the state of Alabama at the USYS Southern Presidents Cup in June 2025. 🏆 🏆

🗣️”We’ve had a great start to the season & we hope to continue our progress as we get closer to the halfway point in our schedule. Saturday night was tough for us but the group found a way to come back home with a positive result (3-1 W) playing in Panama City FL vs the top team in the league at the moment; Florida Roots. Now that we’ve reached the top of the table & with another away game in GA this Saturday nigh, we will continue our work and prepare to defend our 1st place position and return home with another good result on the road. All the credit belongs to the players for their commitment & responsible approach to each game. We are still taking everything one game at a time so we can reach our goals & have a successful conclusion to our first half of the season.

🗣️ “El equipo ha tenido un gran comienzo de temporada y esperamos continuar con los buenos resultados al llegar a la mitad de nuestra temporada. El pasado Sábado jugamos un partido difícil pero el equipo encontró la forma de regresar a Montgomery con un resultado positivo de 3-1 en Panama City FL jugando contra Florida Roots; el equipo que hasta ese día se encontraba en primer lugar en la liga. Ahora nos toca defender nuestro primer lugar en la tabla y trabajar para preparar nuestro siguiente partido de visitantes en GA este Sábado por la noche. Todo el crédito es de los jugadores que han afrontado cada partido con mucha responsabilidad y profesionalismo. Vamos a continuar con nuestro trabajo para alcanzar nuestros objetivos y terminar de buena forma la primer mitad de la temporada.

🗣️ “Our third week in the Gulf Coast Premier League & second in front of our home fans felt like a big game even if we are only just 3 weeks into the season. The players have made a great amount of progress and have found the consistency needed to produce great performances & give us positive results in return. Once again up 3-0 at the half and the suffering in the end to hold on to a 3-2 win VS a strong Union 10 FC (AL) team made this past Saturday night feel like something much more than just a regular season game. If this is a sign of what’s to come later this summer, the team & our fans are definitely prepared for the challenges ahead of us”

🗣️ “Nuestro tercer juego en la Gulf Coast Premier League y segundo partido consecutivo en nuestra casa y con nuestra gente se jugo como un partido muy importante a pesar de solo llevar 3 juegos esta temporada. Los jugadores continúan progresando y han encontrado la consistencia necesaria para jugar a un alto nivel y sacar resultados positivos. Después de tomar una ventaja de 3-0 y tener que sufrir y aguantar para ganar por 3-2 nos hizo sentir que se jugaba más que un partido de temporada regular. Si esto es un aviso de lo que se viene por delante este verano, el equipo y nuestra gente están mas que preparados para afrontarlo todo”

🗣️ “It was a great night for soccer in Montgomery. The team obtained another positve result playing its first ever Gulf Coast Premier League home game & taking the 3-0 win. The team had an outstanding collective performance & benefited greatly from the crowd that came to support us. The players & coaching staff are very grateful to all the AFC South fans that visited our stadium & we look forward to seeing everyone again next Saturday night!”

El equipo tuvo un gran desempeño colectivo y sacaron mucho beneficio de el apoyo de la gente que estuvo presente.
