💜🍎 A Full Circle Moment 🍎💜

Some moments are bigger than the record itself!

After breaking a pool record that had stood since 1975, 3 of the members of the Boys 11-12 200 Freestyle Relay team had the opportunity to meet one of the original record holders, Greg Herriman, at the Youngstown Swim League Championship Meet.

It was an incredible moment to see one of the swimmers who made history 51 years ago congratulating the swimmers who wrote the next chapter.

From one generation of athletes to the next, this is what YSL is all about! A tradition of hard work, sportsmanship, and excellence that continues to inspire each new team that dives into the pool.

Congratulations again to Theo Sapp (not pictured), Braden Roberts, Rory Taylor, and James Melone on an unforgettable accomplishment, and a heartfelt thank you to Greg Herriman for taking the time to celebrate this special moment with them.

💜 A huge THANK YOU to our amazing coaches, Carlo, Alyssa, and Gina, for your countless hours of dedication, encouragement, and leadership. Your commitment to these athletes both in and out of the pool helped make this championship possible.

🏊🏻 To our swimmers: thank you for showing up every day, pushing yourselves, supporting your teammates, and “bringing the juice!” This championship win belongs to all of you!

🫶🏻 Thank you as well to our parents, volunteers, officials, and everyone who supported the team throughout the season. It truly takes a village, and this victory is something our entire Applewood family can celebrate together.

Because the majority of our team is participating, we have a quick update to today's schedule:

❌ 11:00 AM Adult Swim: Canceled for today
✅ 12:00 PM General Opening: Open for everyone as normal!

👏 Congratulations to our Applewood Swim Team Girls 15-18 200 Freestyle Relay for setting a new Applewood pool record!

💪 Yesterday, Ella Miller, Elie Dodge, Cora Taylor, and Alex Taylor raced to an incredible time of 1:41.04, breaking the previous record of 1:46.46 set by an Applewood relay team in 2024.
