Winter Challenge at Bogus Basin

Based on very low registration numbers the Winter Challenge (Triathlon) has been cancelled for Saturday March 13th, 2016!
For those few of you who have registered I will be working with IM Athlete.com to get your registration fee refunded!

The course for the upcoming Winter Challenge,(if held today) would be starting in front of the lodge with a run, out on the Nordic Highway and back on Redtail Trail, followed by 2 Connector, Lower Loop, Flush, Nordic Highway, Loops on a bike and will conclude with a Nordic Highway - Sapper's Return Loop on Nordic Skis! We may need to adjust the course, if conditions change significantly!
I've found a budget friendly timing system to use for the race so I've adjusted the registration rates! It's a flat $25/participant? (teams of 2 = $50, teams of 3 = $75)! Go to IM Athlete, search for Winter Challenge at Bogus Basin to sign up!
Our local shops have been tremendously generous in the "swag" donations, so you're registration packet will have post-race shop value! You'll also receive a cup of soup and a beer to celebrate!

For those of you who are Traditional Triathletes who are used to swim, bike, run events and find the Nordic ski leg a bit intimidating, the Nordic Center will offer 1/2 lessons on March 5 & 6 if you are pre-registered (signed up by March 1st) for the Winter Challenge!

We've added SnowBiking on Monday nights in February from 6pm - 830pm as a trial to determine the level of interest among community cyclist! Plan to come up and join for a few training rides prior to the Winter Challenge!

The Third Annual Winter Challenge at Bogus Basin will gather at the start line on March 12, 2016! This Triathalon: run, ride, nordic ski race, can be taken on as an individual challenge or a team event! Although it will not be a National competition, as it was in 2015, we're going back to the Fun, Community race much like the inagural gathering in 2014! It's never too soon to start training and shopping for your "race costume"! Race course maps, on- line registration and other details to follow soon!

Update for the 2016 Winter Challenge Triathlon: for the past 2 years TriTown and Adam Wirth have worked closely with the crew at Bogus Basin to help develop and run the Winter Challenge. Moving forward we are happy to announce that Bogus Basin will be managing and running this awesome event! The conditions at Bogus have been amazing so far this year, and should make for a great Winter Challenge in 2016. Currently the race is scheduled for early March, but we are not aware of an exact race date. The Weekend Box Mar 1 2015 Weekend events include a Brazilian Olympic distance classic, a Cross Triathlon set in Australia's Snowy Mountains and a retired Canadian triathlon pro who keeps running faster.

Thank you everyone who participated in the USAT Winter Tri Nats and Winter Challenge at Bogus Basin yesterday! The race was a huge success and everyone made the most of the light snow conditions. Local athletes Tom Liby and Barb Kreisle were crowed National Champions, with many more crowed Age Group National Champions.
