Bread makes you fat, right?
I mean your best friend Lisa swears by it…
Lisa: 👩🏻🦱 “Actually Rachael, bread/carbs do make you fat, I cut it out and lost loads. As soon as I ate it again I gained it all back and now I’m Bloaty McBloaterson!
Vs What REALLY happened
💁🏼♀️ No, Lisa you cut bread/carbs out (a whole macro nutrient group) which reduced your CALORIES, therefore making you lose fat by LUCKILY placing you into a calorie deficit.
As carbs store water 💧 in your muscles 💪🏻 via glycogen, by limiting your bread (carbs) you dropped water weight hence further misleading weight loss. 📉
Your diet wasn’t sustainable. With your calories being so low, you end up eating everything in sight, and yes, you’ve brought bread back into your “diet”. 🍞
You’ll then associate eating bread with the inevitable weight gain 📈 from increased water weight and surplus calories from your binge.
You then tell your best friend at the slimming club, who then passes this on to her sister Claire 👩🏻🦰 who runs a fitness group and of course, she tells 🗣️ the whole class!
And now, here I am having to explain the whole evolution of this myth. 🤪
🎓 Ladies especially… I promise you, carbs/bread are not the devil, if you’ve ever lost weight because you cut bread out it's because you’ve simply reduced calories.
You could, like me, still eat bread and instead reduce your calories.
I must add, my team thought it was a good idea to add a picture of my physique, now as much as this isn’t my style, what other way can I convince you all that I’m speaking the truth. Saying that, now I’m looking at the picture, who eat’sna subway from the middle and bread side first 🤣

I discovered Pilates after suffering a back injury during 2002. I was looking for an exercise regime that allowed me the time to recover my muscle strength, good posture, and flexibility in a controlled environment. Pilates was an excellent fit, due to the small classes I attended and subsequent one on one attention that was available. I initially certified in mat work and standing Pilates, in November of 2006, through the Physicalmind Institute® in Chicago. I then trained with Stott Pilates® in Florida on their intensive mat and reformer programs.
During 2016 I was certified as a personal trainer with ACE. During 2017/2018 I completed an additional 450 hr Comprehensive Pilates certification, incorporating all of the Pilates equipment, with Integrated Balance®. I passed the National Pilates Certification Program during 2019. I worked at Absolutely Pilates, in Bowling Green, for over three years and I am now teaching from my home studio. I love to share what I have learned. I want to help you along your own personal journey of success!
