I’ve honestly put off making this first post for a while…mostly because I don’t have the classic personal trainer photo of hitting a huge lift in the gym. Or even a normal picture of my face in a professional setting.
But this (couple years old) picture of me with my girls? This is actually my WHY.
I wake up early most mornings to work out so I can fully enjoy life with my family in our beautiful mountain home.
For me, strength training isn’t just about looking better. That motivation fades.
Training for real life lasts longer: keeping up with your kids, hiking farther, running stronger, or simply having the energy for the life you want to live.
I lift weights so that when I get a rare opportunity for a hike date with my husband, we can go long and hard. I lift weights so that when my little one's legs get tired after a mile, we don't have to stop quite yet. I lift weights so that I can run faster and farther, even without time for an ideal running plan. I lift weights to invest in my future - perimenopause/menopause might not be in my immediate future, but the more skeletal muscle I can build in my 30s, the more my 40 and 50 year old self will thank me!
Those are just a few of my "whys". What are yours?
