Congrats to for being crowned our 23rd HR 👑 hitting 10 home runs through 3 games (including 7 in his third) and taking home the $100 cash prize! Tanic also dominated from the mound helping take the Sandvipers deep into the brackets.
Many in the Wiffleball community know Tanic of fame, and we are excited to see him bring PLW from Las Vegas to Florida!

Roll it up! 😮💨 While final stats from tourney #23 are being tallied, here’s a couple smooth double plays to tide you over by and .smith.22 of Knuckled Up in the first and second games against the Wif-Os and Zero Gravity✌🏻
In our rules, a forced runner can be doubled up when a ground ball is fielded cleanly and a) thrown directly by the fielder to hit the strike zone or b) relayed to the pitcher, who must be standing on the pitchers mat, who then can throw to hit the strike zone. In both cases, it must all be done in one fluid motion. The ball can hit the zone in the air, or bounce and hit it, as long as it hits the board that would otherwise be a strike if pitched.

Congrats to Dem Bois for slugging it out late into the night and eventually taking home the trophy. Dem Bois went undefeated against some great teams, before losing their first game to Knuckled Up in the first round of the championship late into the night after 10:00pm, and eventually winning to concession due to time.
Learned a few things in our first 14 team, 4 field tournament, and will be sure to make the modifications for a more timely finish next time 😅⏰

🚨BREAKING NEWS: 14TH (and most likely last) TEAM CONFIRMED 🚨
The Wiffleballs aligned with our free agents as the clock ticks towards our midnight tonight deadline! We just so happened to have the perfect amount to put together our 14th, and most likely last team, Wif-Os 🐧!
But don’t sleep on these guys. It takes grit and a pure love of the game to sign up as a free agent, not knowing anyone, willing to play with strangers, and come together to make a run for the $1000 championship. Wif-Os is made up of softball slammin’, 10,000 game playin’, lone wolfs forming a pack of birds that look very similar to Orioles. And you know what? It’s so crazy, it just might work! These guys have a chip on their shoulder after not getting drafted by any teams 😢 so they said screw it, we’ll band together and make the other teams regret it 🦁
(in all fairness they’re just new to the league)
We’ve heard 🦗 as the final hours approach to enter a team but it’s not too late! You have until 11:59 pm to get it in (that’s what she said), and then we’ll be closing our doors until the next one!
ROLLIN double plays! This is how it’s done

DOUBLE PLAYS: If there is a runner in a force situation with less than two outs. STEP 1: defensive player must field ball cleanly (ground ball only, no line drives or pop ups) + STEP 2: within a reasonable amount of time throw the ball into the strike board behind home. (ball may bounce but must hit board, leg or thru the legs does not count) NOTE: fly balls caught cannot be turned into double plays. Lead runner is considered the second out. NOTE: If ball misses strike zone just batter is out. No other action happens, runners stay on current base(s). If thrown ball hits batter while in front of the strike zone = out. ADDED DOUBLE PLAY OPTION: a team may use the pitcher as a relay on a double play as long as 1) pitcher keeps one foot on pitching mat, and 2) does not drop or slow down the turn to throw to the strike zone. All other rules on a double play still apply.
