Twenty-five years later, we remember.
We remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001.
We remember the families who woke up that morning and never saw their lives the same way again.
We remember the firefighters, police officers, EMTs, military members, and countless ordinary people who ran toward danger while others were running away.
And we remember that the story didn’t end that day.
For so many who served in the years that followed, the weight of what they witnessed and experienced has never simply disappeared. Some carry it quietly. Some struggle to find their way home long after their service has ended. And some are still searching for a place where they can begin to heal.
That is why, today, I want to do more than remember.
I want to give back.
H.O.O.V.E.S. uses something I deeply believe in—the incredible connection between humans and horses—to help veterans and their families work through trauma, reconnect, and find a path toward healing. Their five-day healing intensives are provided at no cost to participants, made possible by people who choose to support their mission.
So today, in honor of the lives lost, the heroes who responded, and everyone who has carried the aftermath of 9/11 for the past 25 years, I’m asking you to take one small action:
Please consider donating to H.O.O.V.E.S.
You don't have to give a lot. Every dollar is a way of saying we remember, we care, and we haven't forgotten those who continue to serve.
And if you aren't able to donate, sharing this post is another meaningful way to help.
May we never forget.
May we continue to serve those who served us.
And may we always look for ways to turn remembrance into action.
