This is so well done! Great interviews with Caden Myers and David Bieger... Go Viking Tennis! Also, thank you Denise Yeary Myers for all you do to support our youth.🥰

[05/30/20]   We didn't compete on the courts this 2020 pandemic season, but we certainly "kicked some academic tail"! Our boys and girls teams finished the school year with a combined cumulative GPA of 3.8! Extremely proud of them all! Go Vikes!

A Message to 2020 THS Spring Sports Seniors

Music: "Forgive (The Melanphonics)" Joakim Karud http://youtube.com/joakimkarud

Our hearts are breaking that our seniors do not get to finish their final season. They have been amazing leaders and have done the ultimate job of inspiring their teammates and expecting nothing but the best for their team. Having high expectations of potential team, doubles and individual state championships provides an extra disappointing blow.
Every one of our seniors have an exceptionally bright future, and we wish them nothing but the best. Thank you for your great leadership and leaving an example that will transition over to our future Tennessee High Tennis Teams. I also want to say thank you to the parents and community for the support you have given to Viking Tennis. It has meant a lot to us and we greatly appreciate it! GO VIKES!

Our seniors left to right:

Looking back at some of last year's pictures:)

Men's Vikings Tennis team was dominant today over Greeneville. Lady Vikes didn't come out victorious ... but played hard. So proud of them all. Go Vikes!

Our last senior spotlight is David Beiger.

David has been a member of the THS tennis team for 4 years. He is undecided on where he will attend college but plans to pursue a degree in a STEM field. David is an Eagle Scout, Science Bowl team captain, and founder and president of the Esports club at THS.
David has the lethal combination of being both extremely athletic and intelligent. David was an integral part of the 2017 THS state championship team. He was also the 2019 state doubles champion along with his partner Hagan Oakley. David is the epitome of a leader and as such is our team captain. David was named the MVP of the team as well as Co-MVP of the conference last year. David has earned numerous conference, regional, and state awards and recognitions. David is the heart of our team, and are we are very fortunate and blessed that he is a THS Viking!

Our next senior spotlight today is Brady Edwards.

This is Brady’s first year playing tennis for THS. He plans to attend the University of Tennessee in Knoxville with plans to major in computer science. Brady is a Boy Scout, and is involved in several Eagle projects including building an outdoor classroom and renovating an outdoor learning area at our high school. He is also involved with his youth group. He has gone on a mission trip and has been involved in many community service activities.
Brady is the most improved player on the boy’s team. He has a great attitude and is an inspirational leader. He is incredibly eager to learn. Brady won his first match this year, pulling out a thrilling third set tie-breaker, setting off an enthusiastic team celebration! I am so proud of how hard he has worked and love that he is learning tennis skills that he can use for the rest of his life. We are very pleased and proud that Brady chose to be a part of our team!

Our next senior spotlight today is Ethan Owens.

Ethan has been a member of the THS tennis team for 4 years and was a part of the 2017 State Championship team! He plans to attend the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and he intends to pursue a career in dentistry. Ethan is involved in volunteering his time to help kids learn the fundamentals of tennis. He has put many hours working for NJTL in the summer and the kids really enjoy him as an instructor.

Ethan is a very dependable player and is an integral part of our team. He is such a positive person and a vocal leader on the team, always offering encouragement and cheering on his teammates. On the court, Ethan is a tall intimidating force, has a mean forehand and is ultra-competitive. Being well respected and appreciated by his teammates, they voted him as the boys ‘Teammate of the Year’ last year. We are both blessed and fortunate to have Ethan on our team!

Our next senior spotlight today is Laura Lavendar.

Laura has been playing tennis for THS for 2 years. She is currently undecided where she will attend college. Laura is involved with Interact, Civinettes, HOSA and she is also a viking soccer player. She is also involved with her church, volunteering, and the rotary youth exchange. Laura didn’t play for THS last year because she was overseas studying abroad in Madrid, Spain.
Since returning this year, she has been our most improved player. Laura is very gifted academically and that intelligence transfers to the court. She is very strategic in her shot selection and a joy to watch. She is a very dependable player and an outstanding teammate. We are so thrilled that she is member of our team!

Our senior spotlight today is Hope Godsey.

Hope has been a member of the THS tennis team for 4 years. She plans to attend the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and major in Communications with plans to go into public relations. Hope is involved in her church youth group, the anchor club, national honors society, beta club, and young life.
Hope has a killer instinct on the court, attacking the ball and keeping her opponents on their heels. Off the court, Hope is one of the sweetest and most loving people I have ever met. Hope has been an integral part of THS tennis success. Being well respected and loved by her teammates, they voted her as the girls ‘Teammate of the Year’ last year. We love having Hope on our team!

Our next senior spotlight today is Angelica Rose.

Angelica has been a member of the THS tennis team for 3 years. She plans to attend the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and her major will be Civil and Environmental Engineering. Angelica is involved with Civinettes, Interact, Spanish Club, BETA and NHS and is also a member of the THS swim team. Angelica didn’t play tennis for THS last year because she was studying abroad in Tallinn, Estonia. Angelica is blessed with a lot of natural athletic ability. She won her first match this year 6-0, 6-0! Angelica leads by example and is a great teammate. Angelica is a very positive person and always has a smile on her face. We love having her as a member of the THS tennis team!

Our first senior spotlight today is Lauren Turner.

Lauren has been a Viking Tennis player for 4 years. She plans to attend the University of Tennessee and major in kinesiology in hopes of becoming a pediatric physical therapist. Lauren is also a THS cheerleader involved with Viking Buddies and the firecracker squad. She also participates in Younglife, the Anchor Club and was 1st runner-up in Queen of Hearts, raising almost $13,000 for the American Heart Association!
Lauren has played a vital role that helped our team win some very important matches. She is one of the most patient and determined players that we have. She is a sweet and wonderful teammate and we are so happy that she is a Viking!

This is not just a team, it's a family! This is the closest group of players I have ever had the pleasure of coaching and hoping to reunite soon! In the meantime, we are going to put our senior leaders in the spotlight this week. Be on the look out for these hotshots:)
