Moving from the inside out: An introduction to Somatic Movement.🐌

What is Somatic Movement?
Unlike traditional exercise that focuses on external performance, somatic movement focuses on your internal experience. Through slow, conscious, and gentle movements, we retrain the nervous system, release deeply held physical tension, and cultivate deep body awareness.🐚

The Benefits:
🌿 Regulates the Nervous System: Shifts your body out of fight-or-flight and into a state of calm and recovery.🧠
🌿 Relieves Chronic Pain & Tension: Addresses the root patterns of restriction rather than just masking the symptoms.🕊️
🌿 Improves Mobility & Coordination: Rewires neuromuscular pathways for effortless, fluid movement.💃🏽🕺🏽
🌿 Deepens the Mind-Body Connection: Helps you listen to, trust, and understand your body’s unique language.☀️

About the Director:
Hi, I’m Nina Madsen Puckett (RSMT/E, CMA, LMT). As a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist & Educator and Certified Movement Analyst, my work is rooted in Laban Movement Analysis and Bartenieff Fundamentals. I founded Madsen Movement in 2023 to guide movers to step into mindful, therapeutic embodiment. For full bio, feel free to check out my website (link in bio).😊

Today, Madsen Movement is proud to be a program of Oklahoma Performing Arts (OPA), offering a supportive space to help you come home to your body.🐌

Ready to experience it? Check out our class schedule on my website or send a DM to learn more about upcoming somatic movement sessions at OPA in Broken Arrow.

🌱What if movement wasn’t about how you looked, but how you felt?🌱

What is Somatic Movement?🐌
At its core, Somatics is the practice of moving from the inside out. Unlike traditional dance or fitness, where the goal is often to mirror an instructor or achieve a specific “look,” Somatic movement is about the internal experience. It is the study of the “Soma”—the body as perceived from within.

What our classes are like🐚
When you step into a session with us, the “performance” ends at the door. Here is what you can expect:

•Guided Awareness🧭
We use Bartenieff Fundamentals and Laban Movement Analysis to help you investigate the subtle language of your body.

•A Nervous System Sanctuary🧠
Our classes are designed to move you out of “fight or flight” and into a state of regulation. We focus on breath, ground connection, and the natural rhythms of your anatomy.

•No Technique, Only Discovery🕊️
These sessions are not dance technique classes. There is no right or wrong way to move—only your way. We explore internal sensations through guided prompts that encourage ease in every reach, breath, and roll.

•The Environment🕯️
Expect a quiet, intentional space where you are encouraged to close your eyes, slow down, and truly listen to what your body is saying.

Whether you are looking to recover from burnout, manage stress, or simply inhabit your skin more fully, we invite you to stop performing and start feeling.🌳

Come home to your body🪴

Movement is the language of the nervous system. 🌿

In this class, we use somatic practices to shift out of “auto-pilot” and back into our bodies. It’s about nervous system regulation and fusing the inner and outer worlds of the mover.

Whether you are a dancer or someone just looking to feel more grounded, these classes are designed for every body. We use the Bartenieff Fundamentals and Laban Movement Analysis to help you reconnect with your innate patterns and move with more ease.

✨ New students always welcome. No experience necessary—just a willingness to move. Next class is Tues, June 2nd from 7pm-8pm at Oklahoma Performing Arts.

Big things are moving in the Oklahoma arts community! 🌪️✨

We are beyond thrilled to announce a beautiful evolution for two local staples in dance and education. Beginning in 2026, Madsen Movement will officially become a program of Oklahoma Performing Arts (OPA)! 🎭🩰

What you should know:
🐌🐚Madsen Movement has been a sanctuary for somatic movement and artistic expression. With a focus on the mind-body connection through Laban/Bartenieff techniques, it’s helped movers of all levels find their authentic voice.

🎭🩰Oklahoma Performing Arts has been a pillar of excellence in the community since 1996, dedicated to teaching “character through performance” to the next generation of artists.

Why we’re excited:
By bringing Madsen Movement under the OPA umbrella, we are bridging the worlds of professional somatic wellness and classical arts education. This partnership ensures that the legacy of mindful, healthy, and expressive movement continues to grow within our community for years to come.
Stay tuned as we prepare for this transition! We can’t wait to show you what’s in store for 2026. 👣💫
