Meet the majestic striped marlin! This subspecies of billfish are found only in the tropical and subtropical waters of the Indian and Pacific Oceans. Although they can tolerate deeper, cooler waters, they mostly navigate through the epipelagic portion of the water column. Striped marlin are smaller in size compared to other billfish, measuring up to 13 feet with a maximum estimated weight of 500 pounds! Striped marlin are plentiful fish, making up about one fourth of all of TBF's data. Ever wonder how you can identify a striped marlin? Two distinct features make these fish unique: their vibrant stripes and their fins. Bold, vertical stripes are what give the striped marlin their name. These striking markings can change from blue to a silvery color based on behavior, making them distinguishable from afar. Additionally, their large dorsal fin extends high above their bodies, accompanied by very long pectoral fins. Happy tagging, and tight lines!🎣

We had a great visit from a great group of kids today! Destin High School's Fishing Team came to see their "favorite tackle store". We gave them a behind the scenes tour and showed them where all the tackle magic happens. They also left with some great J&M swag!
