The transition is the exercise.
Last month, I asked you all:
what’s one thing you wish fitness culture understood better about bodies?
The responses were soooo good. So many of you said some version of the same thing: that you are tired of being made to feel like you are not doing it ‘right’ unless you are maxed out, wrecked, or hitting PRs.
Your body does not need to be fighting for its life every time you move. Sometimes movement is slow. Sometimes it is fast, breathy, and chaotic.
Sometimes it is quiet and controlled. All of it counts.
How you move through the in-betweens of workouts or life matters.
Through it all, I’m thinking about staying consistent over intensity. I invite you to do the same.
If you are going through a transition right now, how are you applying the concept of consistency vs intensity? Tell me about it below!

Closing Nostrand isn’t failure. It’s a strategic decision. We’re paying attention and getting real with ourselves, our team, and most importantly, you.
The truth is: we can’t do everything at once and do it well right now. And instead of stretching ourselves thin and *hoping* it works out, we’re choosing to be intentional about what we can actually sustain and control.
This means getting stronger at one space.
It means investing more into our instructors.
It means giving ourselves room to grow in ways that aren’t just about doing more (similar to the way we approach movement.)
And it means trusting/hoping/praying that the community we’ve built will continue to grow with us.
If you want to support us during this transition, keep coming to class. That consistency matters more than you know.
You can also support by grabbing a package, shopping merch, sending a little love, or sharing Fringe with someone you think would fall in love with it too.
We’re still here. Just choosing a version of this that can last.
Thank you for being part of this 🤍

She’s backkk!! 🌞 Morning Glory is back in action & ready to serve our community with donation-based mat classes 🧘🏽♀️
Once a month, we roll out the mats, turn on the good music, and move together. No “fitness performance.” Just some folks moving together on Sunday morning’s!
Bring your mat, a good vibe, and maybe a friend or two. After class, stick around for a little community time. Coffee, chats, maybe a cheeky brunch nearby. The Sunday ritual you didn’t know you needed (or maybe you did know you needed it, but haven’t found it yet😉)
🗓 Last Sunday of every month
⏰ 3 PM
📍 Fringe Clarkson Ave
Donation-based. All levels welcome. Always :)
Spots are limited, so grab yours through our Eventbrite link! We can’t wait to move with you, boo 💛

You’ve probably seen “Half & Half” on the schedule and been like… what the f**k is that class? So let me tell you.
It’s half mat, half reformer, but it really feels like one continuous class. We start on the mat to build that foundation then take that same work onto the reformer. Nothing really changes but the support.
We’re still looking for the same things:
breath, control, stability, mobility and actually being in conversation with your body. That’s the through line.
This class is especially for you if you’ve only taken reformer or you’ve been curious about mat but didn’t know where to start.
You won’t be able to just throw your limbs around
you’ll have to slow down, talk to yourself, and really do the work. And we’ll be right there with you through it.
Have you booked a Half & Half Class yet? 😎

Your workout doesn’t have to wreck you to be worth it.
NYC fitness culture loves to make you feel like anything less than maxed out is lazy🙄
But your body isn’t asking for a beatdown every time… sometimes it just needs to move with intention.
Fast, slow, controlled, all of it counts!

I almost didn’t show up this week.
Not to class, not to the studio, but to myself.
Between navigating running two studios, a full-time team, and the general heaviness that comes with starting a new year, I’ve been running on fumes.
The kind where you know you should rest, but the to-do list keeps screaming louder than your body.
So here’s what’s keeping me grounded right now: reading a novel before bed.
I know…revolutionary, right?
But genuinely, my brain has started to recognize it as wind-down time. It’s my signal that the day is done, that I don’t have to fix or solve or hustle anymore.
👉🏽This month at Fringe, we’re focusing on Starting Where You Are, which feels almost too on the nose.
Whether you’re brand new to Pilates, burned out by the fitness industrial complex, or just trying to remember what it feels like to move without pressure, this is your reminder that you don’t have to arrive prepared.
Just bringing yourself & some grip socks is enough! 😉
The work isn’t about being perfect or “on.” It’s about showing up messy, tired, and still worthy of care.
So if you’re feeling the new year nerves or like you’re behind before you’ve even started, it’s okay. Let’s take it slow together!
What’s one small thing keeping you grounded lately? I’d love to hear it.

Doing the work isn’t about pushing until you’re exhausted or chasing the hardest version of every exercise.
It’s about paying attention. Noticing when you’re fatigued, when control starts to slip, when you can’t quite feel what’s being asked of you. It’s about knowing when to slow down, return to the basics, and let clarity lead before intensity.
Pilates was originally called Contrology for a reason — the work is meant to build coordination between mind, body, and breath. When that connection gets skipped, strength gets shallow.
And Pilates can’t do everything on its own. A sustainable body needs variety: strength, cardio, mobility, rest. Relying on one mode alone limits longevity.
If you want to truly grow in this practice, give yourself time. Internalize the cues. Let understanding catch up to effort. Remember that this is a practice — not a performance 🖤
