Join us this Winter for an enriching seasonal experience, as we utilize diverse tools and techniques to support dropping into deep states of embodiment.
In Chinese theory, Winter descends us into the depths of the kidneys, our reservoir energy of substantiation, reflection, and quietude, as well as our inner listening, intuition, and wisdom. The element of Winter is water, which can freeze in fear, and it is up to us to transform its character and keep it fluid.
We use Katonah Yoga Restorative shapes in combination with overtone-rich sounds. Using formal setups, hands-on adjustments, and props as boundaries, we scaffold physical and emotional structure, freeing imagination to inhabit the natural breath. Instruments like chimes, singing bowls, and gongs join with this dynamic environment, guiding attention deeper into form. When mind and body connect in this way, breath and energy move effortlessly, evoking ease and safety, and inviting new layers of psycho-somatic release.
Each participant will receive a uniquely personal experience guided by three facilitators. Our nervous systems harmonize in time, empowering you to leave renewed, restored, and with the harvest of a greater sense of internal peace.

In Katonah Yoga, the chair becomes a dynamic prop — a tool that supports us in stepping out of our personal investments. It offers a structure through which we can reconcile and reorganize ourselves, awakening insight and availability for returning to the implicit dialogue: to meet oneself, tune into our strengths, and reawaken our blind spots. We use the chair as scaffolding — a frame through which we can flush our organs and glands — so that we function more optimally and inhabit a body that is well-informed to meet life with steadiness, solidity, and resonance.

By combining mindful movement with subtle awareness practices, you’ll discover how to release unnecessary tension and invite greater ease into your practice.
You will leave with:
• A clearer understanding of how head and neck alignment influences the whole body
• Practical tools to hold your head with more freedom and less strain
• A renewed sense of balance and lightness in your yoga practice
Both workshops are sold-out. To join the waitlist, register on the EVENTS page of yogisandgoginis.com

Join Lara as she leads you through a practice to deepen your connection to your breath. Pranayama, the art of breathing, calms and strengthens the mind and creates a feeling of vast internal space by leading the senses of perception and mind to reach within towards their source. “When the breath is irregular, the mind wavers; when the breath is steady, so is the mind. As long as there is breath within the body, there is life; when the breath departs, life also departs. Therefore, regulate the breath.” – Hathayoga Pradipika
In this workshop we will begin with asanas that teach us to consciously rest, relax and become quiet so that the breath can be revealed and then move into some fundamental reclining and seated pranayama practices.

This month, Lara’s workshop revolves around Yoga Kurunta (Kuranti is Sanskrit for Puppet).
Come be both puppet and puppeteer on October 18 as we learn how to practice asana by means of suspended ropes. Working with ropes allows us to practice more difficult asanas with relative ease, and due to the traction and the repetitive movement in and out of poses, it helps us open the shoulders and chest and create a suppleness in the spine and body

Join us this Autumn for an enriching seasonal experience, as we utilize diverse tools and techniques to support dropping into deep states of embodiment. In Chinese theory, Autumn is the season for drawing nourishing energy inward, while connecting to ascending yin that strengthens the lungs.

The abdomen represents not only our physical center, but also our emotional seat. Chronic hardening or tensing of the abdomen can have deleterious effects both physically and psychologically. In this workshop, we will spend some time “mapping” the various layers of abdominal muscles, learn how to soften the superficial layers of the abdomen, create extension along the sides of the trunk, and arrive at the deeper, innermost layers of the abdominal muscles. From a state of softness, traction and spinal length, we will learn how to tone these deeper muscles to bring a healthy strength and support to our posture, exploring the balance between abdominal strength and suppleness.

This is an opportunity to learn what poses can help you remain calm and collected, cool and even-keeled in the midst of NYC’s summer swelter. We will open, lengthen, luxuriate, and cool off in supported chest openers, forward bends and inversions. We will end with some pranayama to make the mind as deep and serene as a mountain lake.

The pelvic floor is suspended between the p***s, ileum (hip bones), sacrum and coccyx (tailbone). The health of our lower abdominal/pelvic organs depends on the tone and elasticity of our pelvic floor and the placement of the sacrum and coccyx. In this workshop, we will align the pelvis and tone the pelvic floor by focusing in various asanas on the muscles surrounding the pelvis (including the pelvic, hip, leg and abdominal muscles). A special emphasis will be placed on Tadasana, Sirsasana and Sarvangasana.
