Chase came to us with a gorgeous Big Bro frame, a twelve-speed drivetrain, and a hand-built wheelset by complete with hubs.

The finished build is a true all terrain bike that can carry anything, go anywhere, and will last a lifetime.

We’re fans of old school, fully rigid adventure bikes here at Roots. We love that Chase combined a bombproof frame with Shimano’s latest and greatest drivetrain technology.

Jeff Frane, the Original founder of All-City Cycles, knew he wanted to “do more” with his life, and worked his way through $7/hour bike shop jobs to found and operate one of the coolest bike companies in the world.

Last week, Claire visited our shop and rode off with one of the few remaining All City Space Horses - a bike she immediately connected with and looked incredibly comfortable and confident riding.

Bikes transport us in many ways – around the city, faster than the subway, into the office, towards our friends. They move us beyond the hum-drum of NYC winters, and help us find pockets of freedom on these rare 51 degree sunny days.

All-City closed their doors a few years ago, but we still have a run of their legendary bikes. Come ride one!

The shop will be open Saturday Oct 25th from 11am-2:30pm, and 4:30pm to 5:30pm. We will be attending a celebration of life for our friend and neighbor Paul Keim, who passed on last month after a battle with cancer. Paul was a longtime birder, naturalist, painter, and former president of the . When not out in gardens and parks observing nature, he was watercoloring both indoors and out. Paul was a member of the and a full time professional printmaker by trade. Also an excellent cook, we’ll definitely miss his quiche and coming home after a long day at work to mouthwatering smells of whatever’s cooking in the oven! Bicycle Roots is going on summer break! With other shops permanently closing in the area, everyone has been working extra hard and deserves some time to recover from the chaos of summer. The shop will be closed Wednesday July 3rd through Monday July 7th. We’ll resume our regular hours on Tuesday July 8th. Until then, enjoy your holiday and we’ll see you soon!

New year, new website! It’s been a long time coming, and is still very much a work in progress, but head over to bicycleroots.com to poke around. We’re adding content daily, and making gradual changes as things progress. We’ve opted to forego a web store this time around, but all of the products listed are available in-store!

The shop will be closed this Thurs(1/16) to attend East. For those not in the industry, CABDA stands for Chicago Area Bicycle Dealers Association, but their events are so much more than that! CABDA features exhibits, sales, tech clinics, interactive seminars, and indoor product demos put together by the , which help to educate retailers in the cycling industry. In short, it helps us better serve your needs! Regular hours resume on Friday.
