Take a walk down the Williamsburg waterfront. Pass the inlets and apartment towers and the ferry docks on your way to Domino Park. There’s music coming from a tall garage door, echoing off the brick walls of a warehouse.
Inside, everything’s in motion. Barbells clanging, cycles spinning, rowers gliding, medicine balls dropping, jump ropes swishing, bodies sweating.
There might be evening light reflecting off high windows and falling on the padded floors. You might see Josh or Michelle or Marcos calmly orchestrating the chaos of a dozen athletes under two True North banners, one American flag, and one big ass fan.
Maybe you’ll wonder what it’s all about, and you’ll step inside and try to get back in motion, sweating through squats and burpees, clean and jerks, rope climbs and snatches, push ups and box jumps, and you’ll leave feeling like you accomplished something you didn’t know was possible.
