Vulnerability is vital and it needs to be validated โ especially in our children. In doing so, our kids will feel seen and heard in the whole of their experience. This is the best way to set the foundation for a kind and compassionate life. ๐โฅ๏ธ

Round two of Professional Development for educators at IS 349 Middle School. Today, I presented about the Breathe element, which is the second of the five elements of the teaching methodology. Teachers learned breathing practices for themselves and for their students. Did you know that by breathing slowly in and out of your nose, you engage your parasympathetic nervous system, the system that allows us to rest, heal, grow and learn? Operating from the parasympathetic nervous system gives us full access to our pre-frontal cortex, the part of the brain that we need to operate from in order to see the big picture, understand cause and effect, focus, recall information and even manage our impulses. ๐คฏ๐ค ๐ฌ

to me two years ago scrambling in Cold Spring. is happening here one week from tomorrow! 6/22 At Dockside Park (not on the rock scrambles ๐) and itโs literally the most perfect place for your little ones to engage their senses, play and practice yoga in nature! Plus the chances of spotting a bald eagle while in happy baby are HIGH and if you know me thatโs a pretty big deal. Visit to grab tickets. Iโm teaching the kids class at 4:30pm - really hope to see you and your family there! ๐๐ฆ

June Yoga Classes! ๐ฟ
โAdapting is to allow emotional fluidity to dictate the organic flow of synchronicity, connection and magnetism. Adapting to your environment is a great way to practice adapting to anything.โ -Lena Stevens via ๐ฆ
โ> June is here and so is the emergence of summer: the season of fire, light, Joy, the heart, abundance & celebration. The change in season requires us to know what season we are in and to adapt accordingly. One way to become adaptable is to develop good techniques and to engage your senses. Make yourself available to see, smell, taste all that is ripening around you. ๐๐ผ๐

This, from , is so interesting to me. How I define self-care is evolving all the time: saying no, setting boundaries, saying how I feel, deep self-compassion, allowing myself to feel uncomfortable, make mistakes, have messy conversations.. just to name a few. Pretty synonymous with some goals of yoga and mindfulness practice if you ask me. And itโs not separate from community. Life happens in community. So Iโve been starting to ask myself, how does my privilege affect what I practice and what I preach? Communal well being needs to be at the intersection of everything and that means we need to start asking ourselves questions about how we show up for each other in the world. Itโs uncomfortable, messy and scary because certain answers may ask me to change my ways, or show how I come up short. If you want to start conversing about it I have a lot to learn and would be happy to hear from you. How do we cultivate communal care? ๐ฅ๐ thanks for the insight โก๏ธ๐ก
